The Bond between this human and his cat

Cats are a very independent animal, and come and go as they please, it is said you do not choose the cat, rather the cat will chosse you.

In my life I have had two cats with whom I had a very unquie bond with

The first was a kitten I saved whom I called Little Boots. he was completly black save four perfectly formed white boots on his upper paw to ankle.

Little boots would never go to sleep unless he knew I was safe. If ever I held my breath so I would not be breathing he would lick my face until I did breath ( could no longer hold my breath) with a happy meow and a purr he would then retire to the end of the bed often during hte night coming to check if I was still breathing. I had to move tot he county side with my mum. I stayed for a year until I had no choice but to move back to the city to get work. It as at this time Little Boots took to long absences, My mum put down to him exploring the farm land that surrounded the new family home. Yet the longre I ws away the longer he styaed away, till Mum thought he he had been killed. My visits home were not that often at least as not often as I liked, yet when ever I did return Little boots would turn up, the very mornning before I even go ther e and was always there to greet me. even when it was not a planned trip home he knew all the same.

Buster My current feline companion is the only other cat, I have, for lack of a better term magical bond with. When I was very ill , he would make sure he was around and rarely left my side. He seemed to know on the three occasions I had died or was very close to death for he would begin to call in a mournful meow. loudly and presently, alerting my Partner, who then knew to call the hospital and inquire had anything in surgery gone wrong. The Nurses were always surprised at how my partner knew, when they themselves had only just been given instructions to phone him. yet in those surgerys whre things went to plan and no complcations Buster was always fine and always at home ready to welcome me dsafly back, again staying near me when normaly he would be off romping about his Kingdom.

One odd thing, I discovered per chance I was and able to communicate with him though a seires of whistles in the higher register, and with harmonics in the whistle, so long as their is emtion behind them, He to  can seemly communicate rather well, as often all I need to do is look into his eyes and feel a knowing of what he is wanting, I can tell when and what he wants, simply by the expreasions of his eyes and some body language. weather it s biscuits,or meat food . Or know when he wants to be dried off from coming in from the rain, or simply to have some T.L.C stroking as he curls up on me and goes to sleep. as pictured below he loves sitting on my lap while I am at my desk on the computer.

His new favorite sleep place is on a pillow just above my head on my own pillow. He will sit and await me outside the bedroom as if to say hurry up lets go to bed I'm looking forward to curling up on the pillow and geting some shut eye. He always feels best it seems when he can have a paw or feel one part of his bodie touching mine, right now he sleeps on a pillow above my head so perfers a paw be touching my head, he never disturbs me. just wishs for the comfort, and I to enjoy this feline comfort. Yet before 'bedtime'  if I am on the couch watching a movie or tv I am often his favorite matress to sleep on as illustrated above.

One night I was so tired I just fell asleep on the couch, my arm gnetly laid over buster, his paw gently touching my hand we slept like this for over an hour untill my partner, after taking hte photo, awoke me and told me to go to bed.

So I wondering how may others have such a close bond as Buster and I seem to have, that we can communicate with each other, and how do you communicate with your cat ?

Buster and the Pixies

Within our lounge room  on the floor is a speaker. This is Busters favorite pit stop, on his route from his food to the way he can get outdoors. His ritual is to eat then come jump up and perch himself upon the speaker, ( he thinks its his personal throne) He then begins to groom himself.

Though now and then he will stop and has to at all costs try to catch something behind the speaker, which is against the walls, so he fish's with his paw, Before then turning round in circles  as if he is following something as the same fishing action on the right side, then the front and round to the left side. At times he will turn three of four times following  the pixies  only he can see that are teasing him. Some times he goes to just catch the pixie in mid air and falls face first off hsi perch onto the flooor , then looks to ensure no one was watching, if he supects we were ( which often we do ) he will give us an indignent look as if to Say,

"No I didn't fall off I meant to do that ! " then he will carry chasing hte pixies round  and then up the wall they shall fly making him reach up to the point he is full hight on hind legs. Then as quickly as it begun he will settle down looking around to see if hte Pixies are still about, satisified he has seen them off, he happly finshs grooming, looking up with a big smile at me before  a hop and a jump leaps from the room to make his way out into his Kingdom.

Buster an elegant cat

I have had a number of cats in my life over the years and while I loved them all, None quite compare to Buster. When sitting upon a perch his silhouette is that of the classical cat pose, picture perfect. He looks as if he could be a statue adorning  one of the Egyptian temples of Basset or Mios.

He has the most elegant proportions I have seen of any Cat, he is slender, without being lanky.

His head and face are very egyptian in the classical way. His tail is rather long, yet not like a piece of string, it is bushing enough and long enough as illustrated right,  so that when he curls up, he will often use it  like an eye mask, or blind fold. Especially if it is in the day while he basks in the warmth of the sun upon the warm concrete.

He defiantly recalls his ancestors were worshiped, and for al his picular ways, and his short term memory, such as, Where is did this room come from ? I never been in here before ( when he has a hundred times)  it wasn't here before, I must explore it, and so he will happily check out every nook and cranny for the next half an hour only stopping when he is completely satisfied he has left no place, or possible hiding place unchecked.

I must read it on the morrow very late here so need a bit of sleep.

Aye his name was given to him by the ladies who gave him and his brother Burtis to us. They named him buster as apparently he would bust into the toilet when they were, well.... sitting on it , lol now he just busts into rooms where he knows he will find his human mattress, that being me lol

I am a cat lover myself, although I don't currently have one. Buster is a doll and I enjoyed reading about your bond to him and his to you. My favourite cat I called "The Verminator" as he was quite the hunter and he shared :O

He died of eating poisoned food left out by a neighbour for some stray dogs. The whole family was around him at the end. I still miss him and no cat since has taken his place and I don't think I will ever attach to another as I did to him.

He was the cutest little thing when we first got him, a give away kitten with a bandana around his neck bigger than he was. He was loved his entire life.

Sorry to learn your most beloved compaion The Verminator is no longer with you. Presants Buster doesn't bring back. often, Yet rthe odd time he does.

Your cat must have loved you very much, as they only bring back and share their prizes withthe rest of the pride.

No I do not think any cat can ever replace another, We love them for their unqiue personalitys. Perhaps in time a cat shall come into your life via the way cats can and you shall learn to love their compaionship in a new and diffrent way. as cats of all pets I feel are the most special creature you can have as a compaion.

thanks for your condolences. well, a new cat shall have to wander into my life when I have a house I can have a pet at. my current landlord disapproves. :(

cats are my favorite pet. I like other animals, but I agree with you - cats are special. and they do indeed choose us rather than the other way around. I had a rather good cat until I moved and I placed her with a friend I can still see her at, Comfort. Her brother, Joy, wandered off from there and I like to think he's just fine.

O I know what it is like to live in a palce and not be able to have a cat, I was in the city for around ten years, and would hate for a cat to be in the city were I was as it weas on the main road. So it was onlty when I go tto move to the burbs, that I was at last able to find a feline comapion.

Hope your cercumstances will alter, like maybe a better landlord that will allow you to have your feline compaion.

Yes cats are very smart, and un like dogs do not need us, they just want us, and their need for us grows out of their love for us. So I am sure your putty cat is out leaving his mark on behalf of all cats, fighting the villains of the night :-D

I have a Cat called Buster whom I am very close to.

Every morning he persistently meows until I let him into my room, where we sleep together for about half an hour.

Buster is a good cat name. At frist I thought it a bit odd, now I think its well as I sad a good cat name.

My Buster Boy doesn't meow to be let in, which is in part how he got his name, he smiply busts in.

If the door is closed but not latched he hooks his paw in and opens it. All he needs to learn now is to close a door when he gos out of a room.
