Interesting hub. Where is Chesapeake? I am intersted in reading more about why you think, 'Chesapeake is an awesome place to live and a great place to live and bring up children'. -Carol
Im a military brat. So i have traveled everywhere. So when I moved to Chesapeake Virginia, I thought this was a great place to bring up children. And boy was I right. This place has such a great hometown feel. Everyone knows everyone. The schools are great and the people are awesome. I have been here in Chesapeake since 92. You can go to the store and im pretty sure you will see someone you know for sure. The school system has an awesome support system. Families here join together to have the neighborhoods safe and the schools have parent who volunteer on a regular basis and every year it is about the same parents and new parents who enjoy bringing up the children in a healthy enviroment and healthy life style.
And familes usually stay in this area for long periods of time. This is sometimes unusal because this area is a military based state. We have Norfolk Naval and Oceana in Virginia Beach. So when familes that stay beyong there orders and familes that retire here i think that says alot about Chesapeake.
Thats why i love Chesapeake. Especially since I have never had a hometown of my own. I consider this my hometown.
thanks for asking. I have lots of positive for this city.

Hope it shows up in the year book. wow what an awesome week. Then on Friday we went to the Great Bridge High/Grassfield High football game. It was an awesome time and game.

Saturday: WOW cold as ever. It was according to my thermonitor in car it was 42 - 46 yesterday early and today early. Yesterday we had soccer and it was cold. Sunday: Madisen was still at her friends house. Me I went and got the Duke the dog his next set of shot. Duke is a chocolate/black Lab mixed (mixed with we dont know lol). He is about 6 maybe 7 months old and weighs a hefty 30.5 lbs. boy was he heavey went i put him in the cart so he would behave. Well, those are done til November. Then went to a PTA members house to work some counting. After I went and picked up Madisen from her friends house. We r such busy people. Because after that we went to Old Navy and Target - so i could purchase some slacks and pants because i had none. Since losing 50 lbs since 1 1/2 ago. so now im set.
We then went to Mexican dinner. Went grocery shopping at walmart and now finally home. Madisen finished her homework and is in bed. Of course she complained of how cold it is in the house. I just cant seem to turn the heat on lol... just seems way to early. lol
Anyway, im catching up on emails and checking my biggest addiction of facebook.. lol

Mondays Mondays WOW
Today. basically started like any other Monday. Took Madisen to bus stop. Came home took a nap. lol. Then i got up and called a few places for a spanish speaking family that i am trying to help out with their children getting some medical attention - vaccinations and physicals for the school system. Called lots of places and got the run around. But the last one finally got me some answers so we are on a good start.
Took some pants to get alterations. Im so short at 4.11 that they can probably make me a skirt out of what they are cutting off at the ends. lol.
Then had to take care of some issues ref TAXES - i dislike them with a passion -.
Finally Madisen home and she got her homework done. We went to Wendy's for dinner.
Madisen has so many funny stories about school and her friends. She has this one little guy that i think is so infatuated with her. She tells me things about stuff and they are just so hilarious. Texting is so funny. seems she does it like 24/7. There is always issues and drama with these little teens. I get a kick just listening to the stuff she tells me. Thank goodness she pretty much tells me about everything. well, i think she tells me everything. lol
Last nite i said yes to being on a teacher/staff/parent committee. I luv helping out.
But it will take up about 3 to 6 mondays straight. But oh well. If i can help make a difference i think it is all for the good.
PTA meeting 2morrow. and then a parent "parents surviving middle school" should be fun. There im helping with the edline stuff. They again need a parents input. im not sure if im the right person for that. im not very smart and i dont have a college degree. But i am a parent and i do use edline like a bible. And i can navigate it pretty well.
Madisen while im doing the pta thing and the other she has soccer practice. Guess i have to depend on car pooling for this. but i have not pulled my wait in it yet and i feel real guilty about that. maybe 2morrow i can take the girls and the other mom can bring madisen to me at the school after wards... oh the life of a mom.
Steven my husband is in s carolina with his ship which is in the ship yard there until dec 15th. which is pretty normal after a 6 month deployement. we might go down for turkey day. if i can get new tires because my tires are pretty much shot or gone. the threads are at its end.
Seems these past few months have been pretty bad. Taxes and everything else. Guess when they say things fall in 3's they really mean it.
I did send in my money for the rota dgf reunion in oct 2010. im pretty stoked about that. i have not been to one in a long long time.
Well, the weather here in chesapeake has like sudden went from warm/hot to freezing cold. I really dont like the cold weather. But seems we did not have an in between weather.
i really dont like turning the heat on yet. And we dont have a fire place. So i brought down some heaters to warm the rooms and they are working beautifully. nice and toasty.
Well, that was a monday for us. we will see what the rest of the week holds for us. I know it will be soccer practice, gbms football game and then who knows....
well, c u manana

Thursday WOW
Well. got Madisen off to school and by 10 am i was called to go pick her up at school. she had a fever of 100.9. Today was my day for volunteering at gbms in the cafeteria and the office. well, by the time i got home Madisen had a fever of 102.7 at 3:30. But she says she is feeling fine.. Except for the fever of 102.7 and lingering dry cough and headache.. lol. But the school nurse prior to bring her home said to keep her home til monday. Madisen groaned. this means that on Friday nite she cant go to the grassfield high football game.. oh darn... lol. And she probably cant play soccer this weekend. she is bummed out. lol
So here we are at home and resting eating and drinking lots of fluids.... fun times...
I dont know if i should take her in or let it ride its course.
And all this in chesapeake the weather is real nice and a spring/fall season. lol
Tonite was the fundraiser for chorus at gbms at applebees and we missed that. she also had soccer practice tonite and could not make that either. wow
We are actually home all day and nite.. this is out of the norm for us. lol I know she will be so with ants in her pants wanting to get out becuz it will drive her crazy and ME crazy.. to be home for so many hours and days... lol
Well, when she had to stay home i told her to sleep, eat and drink lots of fluids and that if she was going to watch tv it has to b the spanish channel since she missed spanish class in school day. all she did was roll her eyes... if they had a channel for each subject she would only be watching it.... too bad they cant put camera in the classroom and she watch from home via internet and tv.. that would be awesome.... maybe one day.
well, here we are at home.. send good wishes..

Our life mostly is all about school but the weekends it is all about soccer. My daughter plays soccer just about every weekend. Which is a good thing. It keeps her healthy and fit. It is also a good thing because it keeps her out of trouble. For us it is basically all about school and good grades and sports and a happy healthy life. We enjoy everything we do. The girls are pretty much happy girls. Lauren who is 21 is basically about school, work and hanging with her friends. And she pretty much keeps out of trouble also. Hopefully, Madisen will try out for a few schools sports and do well.
