Butterfly tattoos is up there with the most popular tattoo among women. The main reason is because they can be pretty and very feminine and also meaningful.  Butterflies come in all different shapes and sizes, colors and patterns and I guess so do we in a sense.   A woman with butterfly wings is considered a fairy, so I guess deep down many women subconsciously want to or feel like a fairy.

In some asian cultures butterflies are considered omens of both good and bad. For instance the japanese believe a butterfly on your chair in a restaurant means someone who loves you is coming to see you whereas butterflies in large numbers means something bad is going to happen.

In greek butterfly means soul. This meaning stands to reason seeing as a butterfly can symbolise rebirth seeing as they change from a catapillar to a butterfly. Its for this reason why i think butterfly tattoos are so popular. We all change as we get older, its fact. Whether physical or mentally we all change. I know of women who after a long hard battle with whatever in life who come through stronger and unscathed feel like they have been reborn. A pretty butterfly tattoo designs would appear that much more appealing now they feel a connection.
