Buying Kitchen Appliances Online

My sister recently redesigned her kitchen. She lives in Los Angeles, where everything is expensive. She gutted the entire interior of her kitchen, and replaced everything including all of her kitchen appliances. She went to all the usual retail stores in her area, priced out the appliances and chose what she wanted. Then she started to do some research online.

What she found out amazed me! She could buy the exact same kitchen appliances online, have them shipped to her, and it was still a lot less expensive than buying from her local retail stores. Her gas range, dishwasher, and refrigerator were all purchased online.

One of her key items was a 30 inch gas range. She had to find the perfect gas range for her kitchen design, that was easy to use, and easy to clean. Here is what she researched:

Whirlpool Gas Ranges are Still Top of the Industry

Whirlpool says on their website that "Whirlpool kitchen suites are designed to work harmoniously for optimal performance, convenience, and style."

I can tell you that I have had a lot of experience in my own home with Whirlpool appliances, and they are top notch. I have had the same Whirlpool refrigerator in my home since I got married (18 years), and it still is great. Their gas ranges are just as good. I would recommend Whirlpool to anyone.

Whirlpool has a thorough range buying guide that you can look through for product information as to which range is the best for your kitchen needs.

When Choosing a Gas Range Style is Important

A gas range takes up a large portion of any kitchen, so it is important to choose one that fits your sense of style.

Most ranges come in black, white, stainless steel, and biscuit colors as standard.  Sometimes there are other colors that you can get via special order.

Besides color, you need to decided if you want a freestanding range, or a slide-in range.  This all depends on how your kitchen is designed and what makes the most efficient use of space.  When my house was built, no one had slide-in ovens, so space was not made for one.  We have a freestanding range that takes up one entire corner of our kitchen.

Many modern homes use slide-in styles that incorporate your gas range into your counter space.  In the end, it is up to you to decide which makes the most sense in your kitchen.

My Sister Chose Bosch Appliances for Her Kitchen

My sister decided to go with a Bosch brand gas range. My sister said, "I had heard it was good and less expensive than some of the other high end brands. We got a double oven. It was a closeout from last years model. I bought everything on ebay through a retailer in Alabama.  I ended up with a better gas range model than I expected to buy because I could get it for less money."

Here is what Bosch says: "With the greatest capacity on the market Bosch ovens uphold the Bosch tradition of quality and reliability, using only the highest-quality materials and manufactured to the most exacting standards."

Bosch gas ranges are priced between $1000 to $3000. Within that range, you can get a variety of features They are very stylish looking with a sleek European styling in white and stainless steel. Bosch has several gas ranges with a convection oven which is a great feature especially for people who bake a lot.

Ebay is a Place to Get Bargains on New and Used Gas Ranges

One place to look for bargains on gas ranges or other appliances is on Ebay.  You can also find good prices on used gas ranges.

There are lots of reputable sellers that sell on Ebay, and many will give you a better deal than you might get from an authorized dealer.  The only thing you need to make sure of is whether you get warranties and paperwork with your range.

Each vendor lists what comes with the gas range, and if you can't find the information on the listing, you can send questions to their contact link.

Other Gas Ranges

GE, Maytag, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, Frigidaire all have good 30 inch gas range models. When you shop for your gas range, make sure to examine the features and benefits against the price for the model.  Look for hidden costs for shipping, handling, and installation. Make a list of questions before you buy your gas range to take from shop to shop, and website to website.

Another hint is to look for the outlet websites for each major brand.  You can find a brand new 30 inch gas range from an outlet store that is a closeout and they are trying to sell out of.  Most of the major brands have an outlet store for you to shop and compare with current models.

What my sister found out was that there was a vast price range from state to state, even when you added in the shipping. And some companies will not charge extra for shipping. She used a spreadsheet to track her research, and bought last year's gas range model to save some money. It was still fashionable, had the features she wanted, and the vendor got it out of his inventory. A win-win situation for everyone.

Always amazes me what one can buy on line! (I know our son bought a used car on ebay a few years ago.) Thanks to the internet, we have access to purchase just about anything we want or need. This is great information for anyone searching for a gas range on line.

I know. I was pretty amazed by what my sister told me when she redecorated her kitchen, but if you can save money by buying appliances online, why not? Especially if they are exactly what you want.
