65Nikon D90 SLR Camera Review
Nikon D90 SLR offers great value for your money for a high-end camera
Good things in life never come cheap, and more so the single lens reflex digital cameras. Once can easily expect to part with a couple of thousands of dollars when they go in for such beauties - especially when they are manufactured by a reputed company such as Nikon. However, be prepared to be pleasantly surprised when you opt in for the Nikon D90. This SLR camera which replaces the popular D80 lies between the D300 and the D60. I was excited even more when I found out that this particular offering from Nikon has a number of features that is found only on the high range models of this organization.
The Nikon D90 SLR offers an incredible range of features and options
Be prepared to shell out approximately $900 for the body only. More surprises awaited me when I put this camera through its paces. Even though the casing resembled the D80, there are many new features that set this apart from its predecessor. This camera is the first D-SLR (digital single lens reflex) that provides a high density movie mode too. There are many other additional features that you will love about this camera. In fact, I was amazed by its continuous shooting performance (4.5 frames per second!) and the brand new and powerful 12.3 megapixel CMOS sensor. Now you can enlarge images shot with this camera without any fear of jaggies or distortion.
Nikon has obviously given much thought while designing this camera and this fact is ably proved by the 3” ultra sharp LCD display. The active d-lighting helps you to obtain improved dynamic range. Though I do tinker about with Photoshop from time to time, the numerous inbuilt retouching tools of this camera ensured that I did all editing on the fly. If I was not satisfied with the image after retouching them, I could shoot it again.
Nikon has also provided a high definition multimedia interface output with this camera which also has optional features like GPS for geotagging. You can either opt in for just the body or pay an additional $300 and be the proud owner of an 18-105mm VR lens. This camera comes with standard accessories like EN-EL3e rechargeable lithium-ion battery, body cap, A/V cable, battery charger, LCD cover, eyepiece cap, and shoulder strap. An USB cable is provided for hooking the camera with your PC. If you are not able to correct your pictures with the inbuilt retouching tools, the Nikon Software Suite that comes with the camera will help you out.

Great camera. My husband wanted a camera for a long time and I told him we'd get one only after he did the proper research. His research led him to this camera. However, he still looked at the D300 as the one he REALLY wanted. In the end, we went for the D300. Now he's learning how to use it. :)
