Surplus vehicles are often auctioned off by the military to the general public for various reasons. These surplus vehicle auctions have gained noticably in popularity due to the increase in internet information concerning them, and several other internal factors regarding their promotion and public exposure. Once considered a nice perk for servicemen and service women, the ability to buy military surplus vehicles is now open to the public at both online auctions, and larger live public auctions. These are among the safest cars you can get. The increase in interest in these surplus vehicle auctions is not just due to the increase in public awareness that you can buy a retired military jeep or truck. The surplus vehicles themselves tend to be well maintained and much cheaper than their market value.

Once you have found how to access these auctions you will be pleasantly surprised at the range of surplus vehicles available. Military jeeps, cars, trucks and sometimes even aircraft are all sold to the public. They have all been demilitarized prior to sale of course. In general the quality of the military surplus vehicles is very high, though it is possible that in some cases the vehicle has been damaged or developed some slight defect during it's military service. Where this is the case the defect will be carefully noted, so there is no excuse not to be aware of anything that is wrong with the item you are bidding on. In fact, military auctions are not much different from regular auctions in this regard. To ensure you get the best vehicle at the best price you should always do your homework before the auction begins.

Of course, while it is incredibly advantageous to take advantage of the surplus vehicles for auction, it is human nature to be suspicious whenever we get a good deal. This is one instance where there is no need to be as suspicious as if you were buying from a car dealer, as the military has a genuine reason to sell. Quite simply, it is a liability to extend the service life of a vehicle too far. The army operates with the goal of maintaining the highest operational efficiency possible. It is one organization where having faulty or out of date equipment can literally cost lives. Rather than trying to eternally patch up old equipment, the military keeps it's vehicles up to date to ensure that the soldiers using them have the best equipment possible. You also don't need to feel guilty about ripping the army off on these great auction deals. Getting second hand equipment at below market pricing is a great thing, but you also need to remember that buying in bulk at wholesale rates the army is more than covering itself here, and that if you are a taxpayer it is you that paid for the new equipment anyway!

You need to know where to look if you want to take advantage of the surplus vehicle auctions finding some of the safest cars running for a decent price. The popularity of the internet has meant that information that used to be quite hard to come by is now public knowledge, and the army themselves are happy to encourage this, as surplus vehicle sales are now a lucrative way of disposing of equipment that no longer meets operational requirements. If you search online for military surplus vehicles you should quickly be able to locate the information you are after, and hopefully be well on your way to picking up surplus vehicles at an attractive price.
