Going to the movies is a fantastic experience. Not only are you presented with a visual cornucopia but you are inundated with sound all around you that quite literally envelopes you. If you want to recreate the same type of “at the movies” experience at home, then you will most definitely need to invest in wireless surround sound speakers. The surround sound speaker technology has progressed to the point where the speakers need no wires, which in turn help you establish the perfect positions for the speakers in your entertainment room. Since wireless surround sound speakers are available in the marketplace and can be purchased cost effectively, you should be aware of the positives and negatives of using them in your home. Below are some of these plusses and minuses.

Go Wireless To Avoid Injury To People And Damage To Components

It is easy to understand the affinity homeowners are attracted to these types of speakers. If you have ever tried to do any sort of home improvement or wiring or even tried to install audio/visual components, you can understand the challenges you might face. The installation of the main stereo components is quite easy but the placement of the speakers is what takes the most time. If you place the speakers in the wrong place, you risk ruining the listening experience for the audience. Or even if you don’t ruin it, you will not take full advantage of the acoustics of the room if the speakers are placed incorrectly. To make matters worse, once you find the right spots for the speakers you now have to run the wires from the audio source to the speakers. Simply running them on the floor without hiding them looks bad and invites injury to people and damage to the equipment if the wires are ever tripped over. Wireless speakers help you avoid these problems that you will normally face.

Positives And Negatives Of Wireless Speakers

With wireless surround sound speakers you will be able to place the speakers anywhere in the room without having to plan how to hide the wires for one simple reason – they don’t have any (hence the word “wireless” in the name). The benefit of these speakers is that you will be able to move the speakers around at a moment’s notice and can easily change surround sound setups.

The biggest negative that you need to be aware of is power. The speakers lack wires and therefore lack the traditional source of power. With standard, wired, speakers the speaker wires would not only carry the audio signal but also the power needed to operate the speaker. Since they need power they will still need to be plugged into a standard wall outlet on their own. This kind of puts a damper on the whole “wireless” aspect so in reality that refers to the speaker wire and not the electrical wire. Therefore you may need extra wall outlets conspicuously hidden power strips to plug your speakers and components into.

Since the wireless surround sound speakers can go anywhere in the room but require an outlet to plug into, you will still need to plan where you need to put them. Since they are wireless, this plan does not have to be as detailed as you would with a set of wired speakers. Simply look at where your power outlets are and plan accordingly.

Best Places To Find Wireless Surround Sound Speakers

Wireless surround sound speakers can be found in both “brick and mortar” audio/visual stores and online. The best deals and widest selection by speakers can be found online. Manufacturers are always looking to unload excess inventory and many times these sales are at a fraction of their normal retail price. Go get your wireless surround sound speakers and bring the movies to your home!
