About Zhu Zhu Pets

Zhu Zhu Pets are little motorized hamsters made by a company called Cepia. These little hamsters are all the rage right now and very hard for people to locate. They are hard to find both in stores and online.

Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters were developed so kids could own their own pet without the mess. They are battery operated and there are many optional accessories you can buy as well, including tunnels, hamster wheels, hamster balls, clothing, sleeping bags, boats and more.

Zhu Zhu Pets Series #1

The first series of Zhu Zhu pets includes 4 different hamsters.

  • Chunk (white)
  • Num Nums (gray with a white heart on its back)
  • Mr. Squiggles (brown and white)
  • Pipsqueak (yellow with a white star on its back)

Zhu Zhu Pets Series #2

A second series of the loveable Zhu Zhu pets have been released by Cepia and they include:

  • Jilly (pink and white)
  • Scoodles (brown)
  • Winkie (black and white)
  • Nugget (yellow and white)

Both series of Zhu Zhu pets can be found in a gift pack that includes all 4 pets. One being the entire set of the 1st series, the other being the 2nd series. You can also buy the Zhu Zhu Pets individually and sometimes it's even cheaper to buy them this way. You'd think if they were grouped together you'd get a little discount but this hasn't been the case too often thus far.

You can find Zhu Zhu pets at a number of different retailers including Toys 'R Us, Wal-Mart, Target and Kmart stores along with etailers like Etoys, Ebay and Amazon.

Are Zhu Zhu Pets Safe?

Zhu Zhu pets have been found to be completely safe for children (and adults of course) to play with. One claim was being made that the Zhu Zhu pets contained high levels of antimony, which is a potentially hazardous substance.

However, Cepia had this to say, "All our products are subjected to several levels of rigorous safety testing conducted by our own internal teams, as well as the world's leading independent quality assurance testing organization, and also by independent labs engaged by our retail partners," Russ Hornsby, CEO of Cepia, said in a written statement. "The results of every test prove that our products are in compliance with all government and industry safety standards."

Zhu Zhu pets are indeed safe and do not cause any potential harm whatsoever.
