Walmart.com Now Sells Caskets

HUH?

Yeah, you read that right. If you are a fan of Walmart and looking for a cheap funeral or low cost funeral savings, you are in luck.

Walmart is now selling caskets online. They're not sold in stores so you can't go "test" them out before you purchase them. They can only be sold from the warehouse to the Funeral Home.

According to the website - you can get them within 2 business days and while I haven't priced caskets they look fairly cheap.

If you don't like it after you got it - well you can't return it. Seems that they're not in the business of used caskets. Which I thought that Walmart took back almost anything, this is an exception.

Some of the cute things that caught my eye on these items are:

  • No Returns -well crap .. Well you can return if damaged during shipping - and you can not return to Walmart store.
  • No Warranty - Well that's really understandable
  • Gift options are not available for this item - Whew! Maybe I won't get one for a present.
  • Financing available  with Walmart Credit Card. MMM... interesting.
  • It looks like you can't buy it ahead of time - Only option is shipping to Funeral Home

So you can get a casket from your friendly Walmart store, and get a deal on it.You can choose from 14 different caskets from there.

And like most products at Walmart, these are made in the USA.

The Casket Department Catagory

Now surely you would think that Walmart would find a better location online to list the caskets. It's under the category of "for the Home". Well it's not what I want for my home. But Maybe they didn't have better idea of where to list the caskets.

What? No Layaway?

Now you got to wonder - would you be able to put your newly bought casket on layaway if they still had layaways?

You may not be able to put this cheap funeral casket on layaway - BUT you can - put it in your registry, (do people really have a registry for funerals?) And you can put it in your wish list. Well 'nuff said about that.

Seems that this can leave you speechless when you learn that Walmart is now selling caskets. What's next for Walmart to sell? I'm Afraid to even think about that.
