Buying An Air Bed
75There are many ways in which an air bed will help you or your guests to get a better night’s sleep. Even if you are going camping you can simply throw one of these babies down and get a good rest. They are fairly cheap, but they are not all made with the same quality. Of course this is the kind of manufacturing diversity that you will find in nearly any industry that has not been around a hundred years or more. This is what makes it fun, and why I can help you to determine which one will best suit your needs.
I am not sure who first invented air beds but they were definitely a forward-looking person. Who could anticipate the value of being able to pull out a crumply deflated thing from your closet and merely throw it down on the ground, inflate it, and voila you have a bed! This is what is so great about this industry: it is convenient. That is an unmatched thing in these days and times, because we all know that space is at a premium and so is time. It is simply a great tool to have in your home’s arsenal to be able to throw a down a bed out of thin air like this.
Now, not all air beds will be so conducive to this type of portability. Some of them even come with metal frames. This is something that you would only consider if you weren’t going to use it in a coming and going type way. Your air bed will basically either serve one of two functions: you may use it (as most people do) in order to provide a nice spot for guests to sleep, or you may use it for a permanent bed which you generally do not deflate or inflate on a regular basis. In the latter case you would want a better quality bed. Specifically, you’d be looking for one that holds its air well and sits up a couple feet off the floor for sure.
In terms of holding in air, these beds do run the range. Some will not need to be “tweaked” for months at a time, while others just don’t hold in their air that well. In this case you’d end up re-inflating it every couple days (or even more frequently). If this air bed is going to be used all the time then you will definitely want to avoid such a one that needs so much constant attention. Read online reviews to get an idea which air beds have a better reputation for minimal maintenance required. (It is not always the most expensive ones, by the way. I have seen $50 air mattresses whose owners say they slept on it every night for three years and only had to add air a few times during that whole time period!)
Air Bed Brands I Like
Two brands that I like are Home Trends and Aerobed. If you don’t know, Aerobed is the leader in the industry. The last time I checked it had the lion’s share of the market in terms of sales. They are definitely doing something right. Some of their mattresses have reviewed very well in the past. At the same time, a company like Siemens is I believe coming in on this market too. As people crimp down their budgets and simultaneously get more and more mobile, you can expect the air bed industry to further grow in sales.

Now Home Trends is another good company. They have a great mattress which sells for about $60. This is basically the best liked air bed at this price level, but always remember that a lot of this is based on personal taste. Do your own research: the world wide web is the perfect venue to compare prices and order with little effort involved. I believe that Home Trends sells their beds in Walmart if I’m not mistaken.
An Air Bed Can Be A Perfect Solution
An air bed is just simply the perfect solution to having a guest over. You don’t need to have a whole spare bed and guest room; you can just inflate the mattress and put it on your living room floor. Some of them are even as high as normal beds: about two feet off the ground. And they are definitely way more comfortable than various other alternatives. Even kids don’t really enjoy having to sleep on couches. At the same time you can save your own family a lot of money by going this route. What are your alternatives? It’s just such a quick and convenient solution that it blows away all competitors.
In the end you and only you can make the decision of which air bed to go with. I hope this article makes things a little clearer. Just remember: while price usually dictates quality this is not always so. So use your own sense of what you want and not just the general market’s.
