Purchasing a trampoline basketball set can be a great way to motivate your kids to get out, play, and get some great exercise in (and it can be a great exercise for you as well)!  However, before you go out and purchase a trampoline basketball set be sure to think about the following key points:

There are very many different types of trampoline basketball sets.  Make sure that you find the right set for your trampoline.  Obviously, if you haven’t yet purchased a trampoline yet, then you can make sure that both your trampoline and basketball set go together, and you will have more options.  I would suggest that you first look on the internet to find the perfect trampoline basketball, as in toys stores you will likely only find one brand of hoop, and it probably will either be more expensive than the sets online, or it will not be as good of quality as the online basketball sets for the trampoline.

Make sure your trampoline is set up properly.  Trampoline basketball can be a blast, but it can also be dangerous if you do not set things up properly.  Purchasing a good hoop will help decrease your chances of getting hurt, but make sure that you have the proper enclosure around your trampoline, and that the enclosure will work with the basketball set.  Nothing is more frustrating than wanting to play trampoline basketball but not being able to because you purchased a trampoline hoop that does not work with your current safety enclosure.

Remember the physical benefits of playing trampoline basketball.  Trampoline basketball incorporates constant jumping, shooting, and trying to defend another person.  Such activity develops strength, endurance, and coordination for almost every muscle in your body.  This sport is not just fun, but will also help increase your timing, balance, special awareness, and body awareness quite a bit which can help in many other sports.  Furthermore, as in most sporting activities, playing trampoline basketball can also lead to higher self-esteem as you become more successful at it.

If you have not yet purchased a trampoline yet, consider purchasing a square trampoline.  A square trampoline is ideal for playing trampoline basketball.   I have read many places that a rectangle trampoline is the traditional type of trampoline for basketball, but you need to be aware of the potential problems that can come with playing basketball on a rectangular trampoline.  A rectangle trampoline will allow you to jump higher than any other trampoline, and allow your bounce to be even no matter where you are on the trampoline.  However, these benefits come with caution: it’s also much harder to control your bounce, and it is not the recommended type of trampoline for children or inexperienced jumpers.  A square trampoline, on the other hand, will allow you to enjoy some of the benefits of a rectangle trampoline without being as dangerous for children and inexperienced jumpers alike.   With a square trampoline you will still have an even bounce (versus an uneven bounce where you constantly are being pulled to the center of the trampoline, much like you are on a circular trampoline), but the mat does not have as much bounce, so it is safer.

You will probably spend between $100 and $200 for a trampoline basketball hoop.  Just doing a quick search online will show you that, so make sure that you find the advantages of the more expensive hoop justify the increased cost.  Remember, if you have a bunch of roudy teenagers playing, then the hoop may not last that long either way, but purchasing a more sturdy hoop might make it so you don’t have to replace the hoop every 3 years.

I hope this short guide helps you in finding the perfect trampoline basketball hoop set for you.  Please share your experiences with trampoline basketball below in the comments, and let me know if there is any questions you have regarding trampoline basketball sets!
