When I bought my first house in the Lot Valley, France, there were two estate agents in Cahors, now it is like any small town in England with countless agents. Some have closed down this year due to lack of sales and the euro rate. Thank goodness I bought 22 years ago at 11 francs to the pound. Mind you, if I wanted to sell now I would be quite well off.

Now maybe the time to buy. There are plenty of wonderful houses on the market, some at really knock down prices.
