Insomnia is too little or poor-quality sleep caused by one or more of the following: Trouble falling asleep, waking up a lot during the night with trouble returning to sleep , waking up too early in the morning.
As far as I know I've had trouble sleeping since I was 12 years old. For weeks I didn't sleep or slept for no more than 3 or 4 ours per night.
My parents took me to a doctor and he gave me some medication to put me down at night. But he didn't look at the cause of my insomnia.
At that time, it was the stress of the fights at home and my parents' divorce.
Years went by.
Sometimes I had my good weeks of sleep but most of the time I didn't sleep more than 4 hours a night.
I wasn't the only one at home. My grandfather suffered from insomnia too and we both would get out at night and talked at the kitchen table and had fun about our problem.
For him this problem accured after the Second World War.
More years went by. I didn't make a fuss about it.
Till I started to have physical problems. And physical problems were the reason why sometimes I didn't sleep at all.
The only times I slept really well, was when I was in the hospital, influenced by medication. At that time I slept for 8 hours a night.
Insomnia can be caused by a lot of things.
I know that stress is mine. But I just can't shut off my brain to bring the peace to go to sleep.
Women are twice as likely to suffer from insomnia than men. Some research suggests that certain social factors, such as being unemployed or divorced, are related to poor sleep and increase the risk of insomnia in women.
Also, insomnia tends to increase with age. Sometimes premenopausal (the time leading up to menopause) women have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep; hot flashes and night sweats often can disturb sleep.
I've tried a lot of things to get rid off this curse of insomnia, but until now, nothing really worked.
But now I've heard that sex is a good remedy I believe I have to convince my boyfriend to help me.
I admit, when we are together, I sleep a lot better. At least I don't have to be jealous then when I see him sleeping like a baby.
Bye bye insomnia, hello sex. Come on boy; let me give you some insomnia of your own.
(at least a good excuse when you don't have insomnia and you just want to have more sex )
