Miracle Cure?

Think about the inventors who announce a pill that would make people immune to cancer. Imagine? It would be the most highlighted story of the year. Cancer patients would flock to their doctors for a prescription, and the inventors would be wealthy beyond imagine.

There's no cure yet. But there are a number of ways that we can prevent cancers. Prevention is better than cure as the Proverb said.

The best way to start is with our food. Eating a diet reduces the risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and other types of cancer.

Changing a routine of lifestyle is not a simple as swallowing a pill. It involves discipline and learning new habits and skills. For example, to lessen the intake of fat and cholesterol in our diet means preparing more meatless dishes.

One practical way to develop these skills is by scheduling, a day of two each week for fruit and vegetarian meals. This gives you a opportunity to experiment for healthful tips and ways of cooking.

Life-saving Test

The best way to beat cancer by detecting it early.

Breast

Self-examination monthly from age 20. Any new or suspicious lumps should be checked by a doctor.Breast exam every three years from age 20 to 39, then annually.Mammogram every year or two from age 40.

Cervix

At the age of 18 women should begin Pelvic exam with Pap smear test for three consecutive annually as many others recommended.

Skin

Self-examination once a month. Look for unusual pearly pumps or red scaly patches. Also check for moles that have change size or color, or have begun to ooze or bleed easily.

Colon

After age 50, all annual time periods is recommended for a fecal occult blood test. Moreover for every 5 years, Sigmoidoscopy, a routine rectal examination using flexible lighted tube.

Prostate

After age 50, an annual screening for Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) a digital rectal exam and blood test as a standard physical exam.

The Risks of Cancer

Tobacco. Smocking kills approximately 5-6 million people annually worldwide.

Red Meat.Regular meat eater like Japanese have 2 to 3 times risk of developing colon cancer compared to occasional meat eaters.

Junk Food.Those who fill up on Potato chips, doughnuts, sodas, and French fries lose out on the cancer-fighting substances found in fruits and vegetables.

Inactivity.Those who exercise regularly at least four hours a week reduces their risk of breast and colon cancer by more than a third.

Overeating.Being heavy among women cannot markedly reduce the danger from breast, colon, and endometrial cancels. And men are pushing their luck with prostate and colon cancers.

Alcohol. Heavy drinking increased the risk of developing cancers of the liver, throat, and esophagus. In women, even a daily drink or two raises breast cancer risk.
