Animal Fats - Used to encourage a pet to eat ingredients they normally would not eat. Ingestion may lead to gastrointestinal upset or even pancreatitis. This can be a very painful condition for dogs. In addition, most companion animals do not need extra fat in their diets.

Fermentation Products - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Sugars are the common substrate of fermentation, and typical examples of fermentation products are ethanol, lactic acid, and hydrogen. However, more exotic compounds can be produced by fermentation, such as butyric acid and acetone. Yeast carries out fermentation in the production of ethanol in beers, wines and other alcoholic drinks, along with the production of large quantities of carbon dioxide. Grain fermentation solubles are an inexpensive by-product of human food and beverage production which add little or no nutritional value to pet foods. Alcohols can cause the same damage to an animal's liver and brain as they cause in humans. But the effects can be deadly on animals since they are much smaller than us. The smaller the animal, the more deadly the effects can be. Even a small amount of alcohol may cause vomiting and damage the liver and brain.

Ascorbic acid - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - is easily oxidized and so is used as a reductant in photographic developer solutions (among others) and as a preservative. Ascorbic acid and its sodium, potassium, and calcium salts are commonly used as antioxidant food additives. Commonly known as vitamin C.

Niacin - - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - can produce liver toxicity at high doses. Niacin is referred to as Vitamin B3 because it was the third of the B vitamins to be discovered. It has historically been referred to as "vitamin PP."

Calcium Iodate - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - an oxidant added to lotions and ointments as an antiseptic and deodorant.

Flax Seed - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - used to make fabric, dye, paper, medicines, fishing nets and soap. Excessive consumption of flax seeds can cause diarrhea.

Monocalcium phosphate - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - is a common component of fertilizers and calcium dihydrogen phosphate is also used in the food industry as a leavening agent to cause baked goods to rise.

Choline chloride is mass produced and is an important additive in feed especially for chicken where it accelerates growth. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Potassium Chloride - used as the third of a three drug combination in judicial execution through lethal injection and used for making fertilizer.

Sodium selenite is mainly used in the manufacture of colorless glass - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

White Rice (usually indicates beer/wine making by-products)

Rice - causes dilated cardiomyopathy in cats and dogs. Rice in pet food interfers with taurine levels which enlarges the heart and eventually kills the cat or dog.

The use of Corn, Wheat, and Soy are causing such awful conditions in pets including:

  • Abnormal nail growth
  • Bad breath
  • Blindness
  • Bloat
  • Cancer
  • CRF
  • Cushings Disease
  • Deafness
  • Dental disease
  • Dry and itchy skin
  • Ear aches
  • Ear infections
  • Early pet death
  • Fever
  • Hair loss
  • Heart conditions
  • Hot Spots on the skin

Is the acetaminophen that has been found in the candidae dog food an animal fat. I was a little confused by the above notes between the acetaminophen and the notes on animal fat in dog good.

I have been feeding candidae dog food to my pest for about 1 year now and over the last three months my dogs have been having bloody stools. After many visits, the vet can find nothing wrong except that my dogs have an upset stomach. Could it be the dog food? Can you recommend another dog food to me?

Thank you.

Mary

Canidae is a great food yea it may not be good for some dogs and that is ok cause not all dogs are the same; however canidae is one of the best food on the market i work at a dog and cat good store and we have a bunch of customers that give their dogs canidae and one have never had a problem, and are some of the healthiest dogs that i see on a daily basis.

I was told by my dealer, about 8 months ago, that he feared canidae would change their formula and recomended changeing to dog lovers gold. Since then my Husky's lost weight, are vitamin and mineral deficient, their coats look like crap. They were doing great before so I've switched them back. I am still a little apprehensive given tha there really isn't much recent information about canidae.
