MUCH-ADO-ABOUT-NOTHING

After Barbara West interviewed Senator Biden on WFTV, the Obama campaign cancelled future interviews with the station. I watched the interview and think the Obama campaign has made "much-ado-about nothing". I do believe their reaction tells us a great deal about Obama & his policies. These were not hardball questions, there were a few pointed questions seeking clarification on statements made by Obama & Biden. Unlike MSNBC's Chris Wallace, who gets chills up his legs over Obama, Ms. West's questions actually were designed to get clarification on Obama-Biden statements. Something that should be important to everyone. Voting is a right & thus a responsibility. Softball questions, or questions designed to "trick" a candidate (the good old "gotcha" questions) do nothing to further our knowledge of the candidates, their policies and how they will implement those policies. America doesn't need government controlled Media. A media that is the voice of the government, only reports government sanctioned propaganda, a media in bed with the government. We need objective journalism. We need diversity in reporting, Americans need to hear what all sides have to say, We need candidates to be open & honest, to disclose their voting records, and all things pertinent to their ability to lead. Americans need to know where there hard earned tax dollars go. Government has a fiduciary responsiblity to us to get rid of expensive failed legislation. Has a responsibility to properly fund our Military & protect us from our enemies. When it comes to defending our nation our enemies will not be throwing softballs.

I search out and read several websites & blogs on both candidates their vision for America, their health care and tax policies. One I found recently is Galen.org, you might want to check it out. Do everything you can to be informed. Our lives, our futures depend on it.

Check out Obama on Wealth Redistribution and our Constitution.

Ms. West's questions were obviously written by a minor McCain aparatchik. It was the dumbest interview I've ever heard. Her questions were incredibly stoopid! And there wasn't the slightest pretence of impartiality. She came out of the box as if she had just returned from a Palin rally.

Do not question his secular holiness Barack Socialist Obama…see I didn’t use Hussein. Questions are not allowed, at least not real ones. Just shut up and vote for Obama or you will be sorry you racist, bitter, gun toting Christian American. We will make you pay and pay dearly in a couple of weeks. Well not really until January but you are too stupid to know that. Mr. Deeds is smarter than us all except Barack, don’t you dare disagree with him. Get use to it America…free speech is only the first to go.

Great hub. I hate to know what we are headed for if Obama wins. He is a socialist at heart. He's already sensoring what can be asked, who can ask it and how it can be asked. What's next? Scary question. I'm sure some liberal will find a 'real' reason as to why he's doing it. Yeah, right. If he wins, we are indeed in trouble. Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention. I know it's not a popular view here on hubpages. Thanks for being strong!

I see a major problem being though that he has more money than McCain (I am not a McCain supporter either), but the fact remains that American's are letting the media run this election, and he has more money to put more on TV/radio/etc and people are falling for it. To this day I have not been able to receive a straight answer from any Obama supporter of what he can do. Just that he is not Republican. Again, while I don't agree with McCain on many things and think that all politicians are crooks, I at least feel I know where he stands. Obama and his wife are racists, super liberals, and socialists from what I have been able to see, but again I have NEVER heard him answer a straight question, and when asked it is a "plant" or "stupid" so they don't answer or hide behind their race. I am truely scared about what is going to happen the next 4 years either way.

blogging2, again, you are not alone in feeling this. My question is, for a nation that is so well-educated, how in the world do they blindly support this man and his agenda? I am not a McCain person, I was going to vote for Bob Barr until he came out with Palin. I feel she has morals and ethics and I believe a lot of what she does. That's what got McCain my vote. Although I respect him as a war veteran, I was not going to vote for him for president. I too am very concerened about what will happen once Obama is elected. May God have mercy on our nation!

Never, in my lifetime, did I believe that I would see so many people blinding follow the path to socialism, vote against themselves, their jobs, their liberty, vote themselves into 3rd world poverty. Like Hindenburg who was blindsided by Hilter & his socialist party. As we have seen power corrupts, Reid, Pelsoi & Obama are already planning a major tax takeover. They will tax our 401K's, or worse take them over telling us they are a better keeper of our savings. Look what government has done to Social Security, affordable housing and every other program they control. For them their is never enough of our money. What has happened to Common Sense? For every action there will be a reaction. I don't believe the Obama supporters know what kind of change they are headed for and they are taking us all with them.

My goodness, this is indeed wonderful and exciting. Four honest intelligent Americans all in the same place and on Hubpages! This very well might be the most liberal blog site on the net, so it’s very good to see you all, but be careful I doubt the powers that be around here will let this stand for long. I would just like to say that after John McCain voted to sell our country to the Chinese and the Arabs, I would be careful of his motives and desires for power. There are no candidates in this election that really cares about us…you, me or Joe the plumber. The progressive liberal media has succeeded in removing the founding tradition of God and morality from our society. The media is the true enemy of Democracy and America; it is they that choose for us, they that have ripped from our self absorbed lives , the right of governing. This is our fault…my fault, we let them brain wash us into believing they were honest and trust worthy. All Hail the Pre-Ordained Barack…savior of us all…creator of social justice and redistributor of unfair wealth. The great equalizer…for the world and deliver of retribution to the evil empire…America.

"Look what they've done to Social Security."?? Just what have they done to Social Security?

McCain supported Bush's proposal to "privatize" Social Security and turn it over to Wall Street. But since the crash he's changed his tune. Obama has pledged to preserve and strengthen Social Security and Medicare. McCain is proposing to tax employers' expenses for health care insurance. This would mean that another 40 million people would lose coverage and have to find their own.

I'm getting my Social Security check every month, like clockwork!

blangrehr, I'll take that as a compliment, Thanks!! I've been on the forum, so you can be assured I got no compliments on there. As expected. Ralph, I'm glad you get your social security check like clockwork. Doesn't mean the government actually saved your deposits. Thanks to Congress & the Senate Social Security contains a lot of I.O.U's. Our Congress & Senate don't like to see cash lying around when they have so many things they want to spend it on. Taxing our children & grandchildren more, so you can get your check like clockwork is not the solution.

Mr. Deeds does not believe in Socialism; he truly does understand that socialism is, in itself just a step in the process of change, government change to be exact; from Democracy to Communism. Millions and millions of people from all over the world risk life and limb every year just for the opportunity to live in a place the left tells us I despicable. The left tells us we are rude, mean and destroying the world and yet the world wants to be here with us. Barack is promising change and that is what he is going to give us…the process of change, government change and socialism is just the first step.

Deal with it! You might like it. Your're right I don't believe in socialism and neither does Obama. We just need a bit more regulation and oversight (absent in the Bush administration) to make sure that free, private markets deliver honestly on their promises. Also, we need a president who believes that we all should be free from unconsittutional, illegal surveillance by Big Brother and illegal torture of our prisoners. And a president that won't lie us into needless, costly wars with countries who pose no threat to our country. And a president who will try to fix the broken health care system.

allshookup profile image

Absent because Bush is not socialist. You honestly think Obama don't lie???? How old are you again? Do you understand what you just said???? "We need a bit more regulation and oversight" your words = socialism. Obama's words, "Spread the wealth" = socialism. I can see why you'd like him, you are both socialists.

Ralph Deeds profile image

Ralph Deeds  says:

If you read the financial journals and watched the congressional hearings you would realize that the deep hole the country and the world is currently in is due to a lack of regulation and oversight on financial institutions and mortgage markets by the Federal Reserve, the Treasury Department, the SEC and other government agencies charged with oversight of the country's financial institutiona. Obama is proposing that we return to the tax rates that were in effect during the Reagan, Bush I and Clinton administrations before the Bush giveaways to the richest Americans, oil companies, hedge fund operators and corporations. That is the fact. Call it "spread the wealth" or whatever you want. It is not socialism.

If you watch a one-on-one interview between a news reporter and a candidate -- pick any news outlet (Fox, CNN, NBC, MSNBC, The Daily Show, Colbert Report) and pick any candidate (Palin, Biden, Obama, McCain), it should come as no surprise that you're going to be disappointed if you expect straight, informative answers! The news media exists to serve its advertisers and stockholders, not the news-hungry public. It attracts viewers or readers by creating or aggrandizing controversy. That is what "NEWS" is! It teases you to tune in later for some big "scoop" on one of the candidates. And so you do. And then you're like, "THAT'S what all the fuss is about!!!???" Hardball questions, softball questions -- good politicians deflect them all and stay on their talking points. They may grant an apparent moment of candor. But even that is staged.

I must confess I did not see this particular interview, but did see the infamous one between Katie Couric and Sarah Palin. After which Sarah Palin went mum with the media until her debate (where she came right out and said she would not be answering the questions Gwen Ilfill asked -- and was true to her word).

If you really want to know where the candidates stand, don't waste your time watching TV interviews. Look on their websites and read it. It's all there.

All those people who don't work will be getting part of your check. Also, get ready to pay more taxes on food, clothes, gas, etc. That is where the money will come from to pay all those people he wants to give it to......from YOU, RALPH. Get ready to open your pocketbook and hand it over to Obama because he wil take it whether you give it to him or not.

This hub is about censorship in the upcoming Obama administration. Shades of Gray, I applaud you for raising this topic. Personally, I don't worry that Obama is going to make any attempt to control the media. I do know, however, that the Bush administration has been guilty of that very thing by not allowing media access to returning caskets from Iraq or coverage of soldiers' funerals. What would you call that if not government censorship???

Really Mr. Deeds, before the weekend Mr. Obama was only going to raise taxes on those Americans making more than 250,000.00 a year now; right now; he is going to raise taxes on everyone making more than 200,000.00 a year. That’s a pretty big reduction for a weekend; just think how far that will drop before January. We also have not been told how the 200,000.00 dollar figure will be reached; cash, inventory, property, investment (profitable or not), debt, what’s is it going to be Mr. Deeds, how will Mr. Obama’s tax increase on small business effect unemployment? And how about 2011, when Mr. Obama allows the Bush tax cuts to expire, will that not result in the largest tax increase in the last hundred years…for everybody? Well, of course not, because forty percent of Americans don’t pay any taxes and under Mr. Obama economic plan that number will increase by 5-7% in his first term. Of course I would love for you to prove me wrong. Mr. Obama will be at the helm with the Federal government owning the largest banks in the country and he will have fellow radical activist Mother Pelosi and Happy Harry to rubber stamp any give away or takeover Mr. Obama decides is necessary. It’s going to be an interesting decade and we haven’t even mentioned court appointments.

facts Mr. Deeds, yea and the ACLU cares about America and freedom...that's some good cool aide.

We had a soldier from this county to die in service over there. The wife wanted it to be a private thing. No cameras were allowed because she said no. And I can understand it because that is a time of grieving and putting that on air would invade the wish of the family. They even had the funeral closed to anyone but family and friends. No one else. Not allowing media access to caskets during the Iraq war? World War 2 had some 300,000 American soldiers killed . The media was on the side of America in that war. Reporters were to busy reporting on all the great stories of bravery and American sacrifices to stake out a ship carrying caskets for political gains. Unlike th Iraq war where the democrats and the media did everything they could to sabotage the great work being done by our servicemen and women overseas .Forty six front page stories by the media on abuse at Abu-Ghraib. Democratic senators like Harry Reid condemning America and our servicemen for these so called horrific acts .What Horrific torture? What could be so bad? Some prisoners made to get naked for some photo's became front page news describing the cruel Americans torturing like terrorists for all the world to see. Meanwhile, back in the streets of falujah , our servicemen where being dragged and burned in the streets and be headings by terrorists were hardly worth a mention by the media and our senators.

Mighty Mom profile image

Mighty Mom  says:

That is my point about not seeing this war covered in the media. The Bush administration put a gag order on covering the Iraq War, explicitly about not showing American casualties. No why, might you guess, would they want to do that????

Again, let me say that I do not agree that Bush had handled this right. But I wholeheartedly support our troops.

By the way, the Reagan and Clinton tax rates are different, so which one do you claim Obama will use as a base for his eventual tax rate. Of course it will keep etting lower and by 01/2009 he will be taxing income at $20,000.00.

Mighty Mom, that’s the second silliest thing I’ve read on the internet. The first was that Bush was going to declare martial law and never leave office. The MSM would not give President Bush the time of day, much less stop doing something he asks them to. The reason the media stop reporting on Iraq is because the war is being won and the left and the puppet masters the Media needs and wants defeat. The media and the radical progressive hate America media only wants pain and suffering for mainstream America. The left and the elite media believes us to be rubes and idiots that still believe in God and goodness and our fellow man. The need to save us from ourselves; good things about our country and heroic deeds by our soldiers don’t cause shame and disgust in true Americans, those things bring us together and fill us with pride…the left and the media just can’t have happy, proud, patriotic Americans. Socialism and Marxism is a hard sell without total fabricated misery.

We've had six (6) months of Obamanation. It is exactly what I thought it would be. A disaster for Freedom & freedom loving people. The nationalization of the private sector, taxation of those of us who make less that $250K, those of us who make less that $100K, will be paying a lot more in taxes. Promises, Promises. You can't trust a politician. Cap and Trade (tax) will be an added tax to all of our daily living expenses, anything Obama may give back to us will go to this tax and others.. Cost of goods & services will go up. They are planning to tax our health care plans, Union plans will be exempt, our elected officials will be exempt. Does that sound like they care about any of us ordinary people? We will all be driving cartoon cars that don't fit our lifestyle (families of more than one). The U.K. wants to ban Tomatoes, Lamb (they burp to much) & beer. Tylenol and other pain relief products will not be allowed. A national sales tax is in the works. Hot Dogs at ball stadiums are on their radar. I don't care what you eat or don't eat, leave my hot dogs alone. Our right to life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness are endangered constitutional rights. If you want to be a vegan, great! Just because you are miserable, your taste buds are unsatisfied leave me & my food choice alone. I don't want to dictate what you eat, what you believe or how you live, that choice is yours, I just want the right to choose how I live. Live your life, leave mine alone. Obama supports Marxist, Communist nations, Honduras threw out the Marxist President who was attempting a coup, like Chavez, Obama, Castro, Chavez & other Communist, Marxist, Dictatorships support him. I thought Obama didn't want to meddle, guess it is only in countries seeking democracy, like Israel & Honduras - that he meddles in. I've lived in Europe, don't want their lifestyle, I have Canadian friends that come here for health care. They are escaping rationed health care, long waits for life saving treatment. The future of a country, a constitution, a country & people that I love iare in danger. Gore, Pelosi & others will gain financially by the Cap & Trade bill we will all struggle suffer. We are being enslaved by our elected officials, we provide the blood, sweat & tears, they get rich. THAT IS SLAVERY!
