CFS Or Chronic Fatique Syndrome
50Tired and just can’t seem to rest enough to get over? Have you done everything to relieve stress and are still irritable and short attention span? Can’t concentrate?
Millions of people around the world suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome. The highest concentrations of such people are Western cultures. One simple question before you decide you are afflicted, “Are you unable to do normal activities the majority of the day?” This is the key question because to be diagnosed as CFS you have to be unable to function in a normal environment.
Symptoms
1. Bed rest doesn’t improve your energy levels. If you have tried getting at least eight hours of rest for four continuous nights and still can’t function then you may have a problem. The quality of sleep is important. Many people suffering from sleep problems do not have CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome).
2. With so many energy drinks on the market you would think everyone has low energy levels. Your energy level is key to understanding CFS. The average person without serious medical conditions such as obesity can walk an hour at their normal speed for an hour without difficulty. CFS will seriously restrict such a simple exercise. Think back to a time just prior to feeling so tired and irritable and remember an activity that did not give you a problem. Will that same activity give you difficulty today?
There are other symptoms they go along with CFS. These have to do with sore throats, muscle aches, headaches and other minor ailments that can be associated with many, many other medical conditions. When reading about CFS do not lock into these minor ailments as confirmation of CFS. The main two things have to do with not be able to recover energy even after prolonged rest and the inability to do normal daily activities you did in the recent past.
Treatment
Most doctors will prescribe a regiment of anti-depressant drugs and pain relievers. There is no cure for CFS. Mental health is very important and CFS sufferers are encouraged to maintain a very active social life. Sunshine and fresh air and a healthy diet are extremely important.
If you suspect you are dealing with CFS you need to see a doctor. Many of the symptoms of CFS are common to other syndromes and or diseases. It is in your best interests to start with a full checkup. Most insurance plans will cover this.

Great hub. I have a friend who was told she had CFS and spent years battling it until she became deathly ill and discovered that she had a gall bladder that wasn't functioning. After her operation she was a new woman. Sometimes this diagnosis is a catch-all disease when the doctor simply doesn't know what is going on.
