COLLEGE RESEARCH PAPERS
55Writing a research paper with ease
A research paper can be the easiest thing to write once you follow some fundamental rules that ensure a superb delivery of literary work. Research papers can be daunting, especially if you have a high volume of pages to deliver to your teacher or professor. The number of pages should not worry you at all. Your concern is where to get the material you will be writing about and how to collect it.
Whether you are writing a science based paper or otherwise, the concept to writing a research paper is relatively the same. Following are the step to step instructions to wriitng a comprehensive paper that will not only grant you wonderful grades but also praise from your professor.
STEPS TO FOLLOW:
- Know your topic/discussion of the paper. Prepare your thesis statement to reflect what the whole paper is about without giving away too much. For example: if you are writing a paper about Democracy, you should start by defining the topic in question. This will be your introduction and the basis for the rest of the paper.
- The body is the most enthralling part of your paper. Make a note of the number of sources required for your paper. It is best to gather all needed material such as books, journals, online articles and other sources before you start the body of the paper. The body of the paper can be divided into as many sections as you like that is paragraphs, provided each paragraph has a relevant subtopic. Each source should be careful researched to ensure that it has relevance to the topic of your paper. Using the example previously mentioned, you should have sources that discuss democracy and its various forms, that is origin, founders, history, pros and cons etc. When citing in the body of the paper make sure to use the style specified in your instructions, i.e APA style, MLA style and many more that exist. This is important because no matter how great your paper may be small errors like citations can cause a decline in your grades.
- Last but not least is the conclusion. The conclusion should bring the whole paper together uniformly. The conclusion is the ending that will let your reader know what you wrote and your opinion of the topic. This is where you either agree or disagree with the points stated in the body of your paper. These points are usually either your own or that of your sources and you have to support your argument.
- You must not and should not forget that the reference page must reflect your citations preferably in alphabetical order. This helps the reader to identify where your citations came from and if they are in fact genuine. Plagiarizing is unacceptable, that is why I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to cite your work.I hope this guide has been helpful, I shall have more on the topic sooner rather than later.
