The Entire C.O.P.S. team!

Introduction

C.O.P.S. (Central Organization of Police Specialists) is a late 80s' animated series created by DiC Entertainment that aired between 1988-1989. This show is based on a toyline of action figures known as C.O.P.S. n' Crooks. This toyline is loosely based on the popular G.I. Joe. series and were created by Hasbro the same year the show first aired in the fall of 1988. The show aired again in 1993 on Saturday mornings in syndication as "CyberCOPS" to avoid confusion with the live action version of COPS, the reality TV show. The series is all about a team of futuristic police officers lead by Special Agent Baldwin P. Vess (C.O.P.S. Codename: Bulletproof) who strives to bring a powerful criminal leader Brandon "Big Boss" Babel and his army of criminal thugs to justice and restore law and order in the streets of Empire City in the year 2020. The show contains only 66 episodes and has gained many fans who grew up enjoying the series along with its unforgettable characters such as Bulletproof (My all time favorite character), Buttons McBoomBoom, Big Boss, Nightshade, Mace, Berserko, Highway, Sundown, LongArm, Barricade, Dr. BadVibes, and many others.

The cartoon was only made to promote the toys. The 15-issue comic book series, made by Doug Monech for DC Comics, was also made to help promote the toys as well. Both the toys and the comics featured characters and vehicles that were made and formated completely different from what they were seen as in the show. The toys were void of any female characters in the line-up; all featured cap firing guns that were not safe for small children to play with. The comics, on the other hand, carries a much different storyline with a little bit of a darker tone setting to it and the characters in the comics all bear an exact resemblance to the action figures themselves.

In my honest opinion, the cartoon has the strongest appeal of them all, with all of the combinations of light-heartedness, intresting stories, humor, action, excitement, awesome, unique characters, each with personalities that makes all of them special in their own right, a vessel known as The Ultimate Crime Machine, a Big Boss look-a-like, a brilliant Berserko, a green car, a romantic, loving relationship between a COP and a crook, a "pardner" in crime, an African-American lady, who's also the President of the United States, trained bugs, The Bad News rock band, a clownmobile, a lucky penny, thieving toy robots, instant justice machines, bad cookies, a crimeboss who despises illegal drugs (let alone a dirty suit), a little girl who dresses up like a superhero, unforgettable battle cries of "It's Crime Fighting Time!" and "Crime's-A-Wasting!", a COP, who acts like a sportscaster, a conscience band, baby-size crooks, a chip off of a COP's own block, a boxing kangaroo, speed suits, ghost suits, and so much more! It has a lot more OOMPH in it than the toys and the comics series all put together.

Both the toys and the comics should have been made to promote the TV series instead of the other way around - with the comics made in the exact format of the show, the toy series made to look and feel 100% exactly like all vehicles and characters as they were seen in the show (and playsets too!), be much safer for small children to play with, and the toy series to include Mainframe, Nightshade, Mirage, Mayor Davis, Ms. Demeanor, and many others. It doesn't deserve to be an underrated show, but instead, a much more bigger, more popular series than what it is today. It ran only for one measly season with a total of 66 incredible episodes. However, in many other sites that tells of the series, it is claimed mistakenly that the series has only 65 episodes. For some unknown reason, they omit, The Case of the Boy Nobody Wanted from their episode list.

This so-called "lost episode", The Case of The Boy Nobody Wanted, which I remember seeing very well, is about Brian, LongArm's son, helping out a underprivileged boy while at the same time helping the C.O.P.S. team thwart Big Boss' plan to steal some top secret information stored on a floppy disk by replacing the real disk with a crappy one that caused the computer system in Big Boss' penthouse to go haywire and a vacuum cleaner to suck up poor, old, skinny Squeeky Kleen inside it and Big Boss yelling out through the window, "You did this to me, Bulletproof!" Hopefully, Shout! Factory will include the episode in their future boxsets of the series so we can get to know the episode better in the near future.

But that's not all what the site is all about.

Petition to Release the Complete C.O.P.S. Series on DVD

I'm having a petition drive to release all episodes of C.O.P.S. on DVD. Thus far, Shout Factory has released the first 22 episodes of the series on DVD, but seeing only 22 episodes while there's in fact 65 episodes and one lost episode The Case of The Boy Nobody Wanted out there is not enough. It is better to see all the episodes than a few handfuls, don't you think?

Here's the page from Shout Factory that has the DVD up for sale.

C.O.P.S. Page From Shout Factory

Unfortunately Shout! Factory have decided to not release the rest because of poor sales, which I find to be inexcusable. Shout must release all C.O.P.S. episodes on DVD and I need all of your help to accomplish this goal.

About a year ago, I made up a petition to release all episodes on DVD and have tried to spread the word all over the internet about it in every which way I can only to get major setbacks, drawbacks, and a tiny trickle of signatures added to it (Please don't tell me online petitions won't work because Shout does pay attention to petitions, whether it's online or hand written, to see how many people would like to relive all the times of watching classic shows such as C.O.P.S. for instance and respond to them). I totally hate it when it happens and right now I'm getting real tired of all sorts of obstacles standing in my way, the setbacks, the drawbacks, the stumbling blocks, dead ends, forks in the road, and seemingly little or no responses whatsoever. Every pleading I made fall seems to fall on blind eyes, let alone deaf ears. And I'm getting really desperate here finding a lot of people who are willing to sign the petition. That's why I'm posting this to beg and plead with you all to sign the petition to release all 66 episodes, including the lost episode, on DVD. It doesn't matter whether you not heard of the show before, forgotten the show, or fondly remember the show. All I need is help in adding 1,000 signatures (or better) to my petition to release all episodes on one huge 12 CD boxset and on 3 separate 22 episode boxsets. That should be enough to convince shout factory that we want all C.O.P.S. be released on DVD.

Deadline for petition signatures is now DROPPED! Feel free to sign the petition anytime. All I want from you is full participation and support in reaching my goal of 1,000 signatures added to this petition,

Sign it here!

That's all I ask of you, please support the cause and sign the petition to release all episodes of C.O.P,S. on DVD!

Baldwin P. Vess Codename: Bulletproof - The Greatest of all C.O.P.S. The proud founder and commander in chief of the C.O.P.S. unit sent to Empire City to put Big Boss and his criminal gangsters behind bars. Unfortunately, his first attempt at arrest one Big boss' criminal henchmen was a failure. He became seriously injured while trying to nabbed Berserko and Turbo Tu-Tone and found himself in the hospital where he was given a new lease on life with a stainless-steel torso that not only made him resist bullets, but also enhances his strength, and supply him with a computer jack to manipulate machines and a collection of disks that short circuit machines and blasts open holes in the wall. Knowing he cannot handle this alone, Bulletproof went and sought out the country's most finest Law enforcers around to form a team of the most professional, most highly specialized crimefighters the world has ever seen -- C.O.P.S.

Rex Pointer Codename: Bowser and Blitz - K-9 Officer and robot dog who can think intelligently like a human being. An inseparable duo who fights crime as one, collaring and restraining crooks who tremble and submit when Bowser sics Blitz on them.

Patrick J. O'Malley Codename: LongArm - Patrol Officer with highly specialized powercuffs he uses to catch crooks like a fish and reel them in without having to chase them down. Tina Cassidy Codename: Mainframe - She's no mere police dispatcher and rookie officer. She's gifted with the most advance knowledge in computer technology and high tech wizardry. Walker Calhoun Codename: Sundown - Texas Ranger and Sheriff who came to help the C.O.P.S. team clean up this urban one-horse town with his trusty lasso that never misses its mark and twin six shooters he can draw faster than any other cowboy known.

David Harlson Codename: Highway - The fastest of all C.O.P.S. who drives The Bluestreak motorcycle to chase down even the most speediest crooks ever to race down the street. But he doesn't seem to know how to bake a decent plate of cookies to share with his buddies let alone invent something that really works. He's most famous for making the worst cookies Mace, at one time, uses to thwart another criminal scheme put on by Big Boss.

Donny Brooks Codename: Hardtop - Rookie Officer, LongArm's partner, and Professional driver of one of Empire City's most formidable of assault vehicles, The Ironsides. He's also known to have a crush on ECTV News Reporter Whitney Morgan, too. Suzie Young Codename: Mirage - Undercover Officer and mistress of disguise who could either be a maid mopping floors in a large mansion, a hospital nurse, or anyone else she can disguise herself as to infiltrate the criminal underworld and see what Big Boss' crooks are up to.

Hugh S. Forward Codename: Bullseye - Hardly seen with both feet on the ground, he's the best helicopter pilot in the C.O.P.S. team. Flies The Air Raid chopper to swoop down on his criminal target like a hawk swooping down on a rabbit.
