Cadillac CTS-V

2009 Cadillac CTS-V Putting Senior Citizens in Jail Across the Country

If there is one thing that GMC and Cadillac want you to know about this car it's the number of cup holders. 556 to be exact! Wait no that is the number of prancing ponies awaiting your right foot. This Luxury car is going to send seniors across the country to jail or an early grave...well not so early. The amount of horsepower and tire shredding torque is enough to get the heart racing. Based on the Corvette ZR-1 engine; the CTS-V packs a Supercharged 6.2L V-8 producing 556hp and 551lb-ft of torque! With a Six-Speed Manual transmission to boot! Talk about Luxury at the speed of light.

Cadillac is taking aim at the Mercedes AMG and the BMW M-series cars. And recently the CTS-V has posted a time of 7:59.32 at the Nurburgring in Germany. This time is the quickest time from a production car on stock tires. How great to see this car putting a spanking on Porches that regularly frequent the track.

Now to the goodies: Although the interior may not be as refined as its German competitors; the CTS-V does have one thing that sets it above the rest: 14-way adjustable Recaros. Recaro Seats have had a long celebrated history in motorsports. If it has 4 wheels then is has Recaro racing seats. Bringing the 556hp to a stop are huge 15-inch brakes. The brakes themselves are larger than most commuter cars wheels! And speaking of wheels, the CTS-V sports 19-inch forged Alloys.

Now for the bad: The new Cadillac styling has never sat good with me. While I do like the fact they are making an effort to break away from the boring, the new styling seems a little too obtuse. I would much rather prefer some smooth lines.

But who really cares about looks with a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds.....that's Ferrari territory. And a quarter mile is eclipsed in 12 seconds flat. That is Corvette territory. The facts are evident: This Caddy can and will blow the doors off just about anything; it is by far the fastest Cadillac and fastest American Sedan ever produced! And you local Cadillac Dealer Chicago will have these soon...maybe now!

2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid Be a Green Hypocrite!

The New 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is nothing more than a Luxury brick....right? Wrong...this SUV does weigh over 3 TONS, but is much more than a brick! First off the Hybrid version gets almost 50% better fuel economy than its brother. The average is just under 20mpg which is good considering the sheer size and mass of this ride! Just look at those 22-inch rims. Those have got to affect gas mileage. And the plush interior that seats up to 8 people cannot help matters much. So just how does this sled get around?

The Escalade Hybrid comes with some nice running gear. The engine is a 6-liter V-8 with twin-electric motors for low speed operation. The Escalade has a Regenerative Braking System that recharges the batteries when the brakes are applied. Couple that with the Active Fuel Management which can cut the fuel to 4 of the cylinders making the SUV a V-4, and you have a more efficient Brick!
