Calisthenics workouts you may think are for children and sissies. The simple jumping and running activities you did as a child will not, to your mind, give you the complete workout you need. You probably will choose more advances exercise regimens like circuit training and interval weight training programs instead of a calisthenics workout. But in reality, these apparently childhood exercise activities actually provide a complete workout comparable to the more modernized exercise programs in use today.

The History of Calisthenics Workout

Calisthenics roots come from the kalos, meaning beauty and stethnos, meaning strength. The exercise activities in calisthenics workouts use the body's own weight as the resistance for the workout. What was considered as playtime when you were young is now one of the fastest growing workouts in the fitness world. It allows the individual to exercise to dissipate excess energy, be it as a child in middle school or now as a middle-aged man. The energy used up is the fat stored in the body leading to weight loss and health.

The Effect of Calisthenics Workout

The exercises work out the muscles, not just one part but also the whole body. The running, jumping and stretching exercises make the body work all parts of the body, including cardiovascular activity. Though there is still a debate as to the effect of calisthenics workout in the long run, the simple movements definitely improve your strength and stamina. The effect of undergoing calisthenics workouts is by increasing the metabolic rate of the body and level of conditioning of the body. The repetitive exercises also help tone the muscles, improve the heart rate, straighten the posture, stretch the muscles and increase overall wellness.
