I am a big fan of Khmer rap, I admit. Although, I currently am not living in Cambodia, I know that Cambodian people living in Cambodia are aware of Khmer rap. Some of the well known Cambodia Rapper in Cambodia are: Pou Klaing, Adda (Khmer girl rapper),praCH Ly and Kdep to name a few.

So when exactly did Khmer rap establish its base in Cambodia? That is a question I asked myself. After googling on the History of Khmer rap, I found little information on history of Khmer rap. Having said that, I strongly believe that Khmer rap established itself in Cambodia during the time when the American Governement decided to deport Cambodian living in America back to Cambodia in 2001 (read full story in wikipedia). My theory is based on the semi fact that Cambodian living in America is influenced by the Rap Music more than those living in Cambodia. The other reason is that if you follow the Cambodia TV shows, the presence of Khmer Rap happens sometimes after 2001.

Based on the two reasons above, my best guest is that Khmer Rap established itself in Cambodia after 2001.

Pou Khlaing, was born in Sihanouk Ville, Cambodia (previously known as Kampongsom) in 1979 to a businessman family. As a young adult, Pou Khlaing was known as a handsome and outgoing student who had many friends.

Now, Pou Klaing is a well known Khmer artist who has appeared on many Cambodian TV stations such as the CTN, Channel 5 and TV3. Khlaing is well known for his vocal and ability to perform on stage. Furthermore, Pou Khlaing has many fan based especially young Cambodian living in Cambodia. His style in rapping is just awesome.

What does Pou Khlaing like, as a Khmer Rapper?
According to Pou Klaing's MySpace page, he likes making music, drinking and smoking sometime but does not do drug. He loves reading books, well only those books which have pictures on them, though.

Which Record Company does Pou Klaing work for?
Pou Khliang is a co-founder of KLAPYAHANDZ PRODUCTION (need citation here, can someone confirm?)
