Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera

The Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital camera retails for about $59.99. It features an LCD screen, 640 x 480 resolution 4 x 6 pictures, 8 MB built-in memory for up to 50 pictures, SD card slot for increased storage capacity, USB cord for computer connection, built-in flash and a wrist strap. Reviews state the positives are that it is pretty much indestructible and the LCD screen is great for kids to immediately see pictures. The negatives are that it requires 4"AA" batteries which run out (but use rechargeable batteries), is heavy and the picture quality is like a cell phone.

Vtech Kidizoom Digital Camera

The Vtech Kidizoom Digital camera retails for about $65. It is a tad more expensive than the Fisher Price version and overall has better reviews (but the Fisher Price version does have excellent reviews from most customers). It can take digital pictures and video. It comes with photo editing software and games to play between taking photos. 1.3 megapixes with a 1.8" color screen, connector cables for tv or computer, SD card slot for extra memory,16MB internal memory to store 200 photos or 5 minutes of video and 3 games.Reviews state the negatives are again the batteries, photo resolution, and possibly too many buttons for little ones. Positives are photo resolution (some people think its great), ease of use, and fun.

JCPenney Discovery Kids Digital Camera

JCP is offering a Discovery Kids Digital Camera for only $29.99 and you can probably find an online code for an additional percentage off. It also comes with 16MB internal drive and takes videos. It scores a 3.3 out of 5 on the JCPenney website. It has some great memory and features for about 2/3 the price. It comes in blue and green for boys or pink flowers for girls.

Polaroid Pixie

Sorry Polaroid, even for $30, it seems that many people who has bought this camera has given it a negative review. It must have a bug that makes it stop working suddenly, or just isn't as durable as the rest. Many people are complaining that it quits workign suddenly. On the positive, if you get one that doens't have the bug and/or is more durable, it does come with 16MB of memory and games. It isn't readily available but I wanted to include it in the reviews in case someone saw one at a store somewhere.

Little Tikes My Real Digital Camera

The Little Tikes My Real Digital Camera retails between $50-60. At 64MB, it has one of the highest memories of these digital cameras for kids. So, it can take about 1000 pictures. It has a 1.3" LCD screen and has a 0.3 megapixel resolution. It comes with a USB cable and runs on 4 "AA" batteries. Cons are bulky, drains batteries, low picture quality, and shutter lag time. Pro's are fun, durable, and kid-friendly.

Lego Digital Camera

The Lego Digital Camera retails for about $50. It is the most unique looking camera of the bunch as it looks as if it were built with legos. It has a larger lcd screen at 1.5 inches, largest memory at 128MB, and has a rechargable lithium battery. It also features zoom, which most of these do not. It is recommended for ages 7+ but with all the features, this may be the one I get my 4 year old. He is really good with electronics.

LeapFrog Click n'Create Digital Camera

The LeapFrog Digital Camera is new on the market. It features a 1.5" LCD screen and actually talks to the picture taker saying things like, "Great Shot". It has a built in flash, USB cable, computer software to even create books and draw on the photos. Resolution is 2.1 MP and can take about 100 pictures with built in memory. It is sold out on some places, including Toys R Us, but I have seen available on hsn.com.
