Do People Really Make Money on Ebay?

The short answer is, yes, you can make money on Ebay. Can you become an Ebay millionaire? Possibly. Do I know of any? Not personally, but I do know several people who make over $100,000 on Ebay and that's not a bad income.

If you find the right niche market or can identify a product that you can buy dirt cheap and resell it, you can make money.  If you can find a great wholesaler (there are numerous ebayers making lots of money using this trusted supplier of a bizillion products (click here to watch their video), then you can make money.  My business isn't huge by any means.  I only work part time on it and I've been very lazy.  I'm learning as I go, but at least I'm grossing over $2,000 a month from my ebay site alone.

I am in the process of identifying more products.  If I add more products (especially drop ship) I know I can double my income in the next 6 months.  My problem is time so I still do this just part time.  It's taken me about a year to build to this level.  Christmas time is the best when I usually gross over $5,000 because I go out and scour for great deals and then look up the demand and then list the successful products on Ebay.

I don't tell you this to brag.  Believe me, there are thousands of success stories on Ebay.  I'm just tiny potatoes compared to those.  I have about 2,300+ feedback.  The successful ones have 10,000 feedback and more.  That means they have been around awhile.  I'm getting there, but I have not made a full time commitment yet.

Step One - Register on Ebay

You will need to get an Ebay account to be able to buy or sell on Ebay. I recommend that you do both, sign up as a buyer and as a seller. Just click to go to Ebay.com and follow the directions for each. Choose buyer first and then follow the step by step instructions for becoming a seller.  There are a few more steps to becoming a seller then becoming a buyer.

Step Two - Register on Paypal

You will want to not only register on Paypal, but you will want to become verified on Paypal. Paypal has step by step instructions as well on how to sign up at paypal.com . It's simple and it will be a great benefit to you. Becoming verified will require that you submit your banking information and watch for the small deposits Paypal will make into your account. Once you see those deposits, Paypal will show you what to do next. It's very simple and it's necessary if you are going to build a valid business and trust with your customers.

Ebay is no longer allowing sellers to accept any other form of payment except paypal. Gone are the days of the personal checks, money orders and cashiers checks. Ebay claims it is for the common good of the whole Ebay community, but personally, I believe it is because other forms of payment outside of Ebay don't provide Ebay with any type of renumeration. Therefore, Ebay, being afraid they are losing money by having people bypass Paypal, decided to not allow the sellers to give their buyers a choice. Their reasoning is that it makes for a safer community and sellers don't get burned by bad checks and money orders.

I have over 2000 feedback and I have never received a bad check or money order, even internationally. I know it can happen but most people are trustworthy and if the seller wants to take the risk then it should be allowed. My opinion doesn't matter though because against protest, Ebay has instituted this policy. You must register for paypal or you may still use a merchant account outside of Ebay.

Step Three - Start Small - Buy Something OR

Get a feel for Ebay. Buy something small, under $5 and then repeat the process. Make sure you pay right away so you can get good feedback. I suggest buying things you can use or give away or even resell on Ebay. Stay up late when others are in bed, keeping the time zones in mind. Get up early to catch some early bargains when others are still sleeping.

Step Three Part B - Get a Verified Trusted Wholesaler

If you want to get your feet wet and see just what you can get from a site that will provide you with thousands of products at wholesale prices (or at least close to it) that you can resell on Ebay, you must click this link and watch this video to find out more.  Even if you decide not to sell on Ebay, signing up for this program will save you hundreds of dollars, if not more, on your own purchases!  There are plenty of testimonials on the website and samples of products that you can purchase.  This is an excellent place to start if you have no clue what to sell or where to buy what you need.  Pick something, follow their program that shows you what your competition will be and just do it.

Step Four - Build Your Feedback

Buying 10 to 15 items and paying quickly through Paypal will build your feedback so that people will trust you. Feedback is something both the buyer and seller give once a transaction is completed. I personally wait to give feedback until my buyer receives the item and is pleased with it. There are things that can go wrong and you still have time to fix the problems before feedback is left. You always want to strive for good feedback.

Something new, and once again, not really fair, is that only the buyer can leave negative feedback.   You can check out entries on my blog for more info as well:  click here.

My sentiments exactly--I tryed dropshipping but that was a flooded, scammy market. Good intro to finding success on eBay. I recommend eBay for dummies as well, quite a decent read, especially for those who just want to hit the ground running.

Nice article!
