Can you eat without teeth?
Can you imagine the punishment of eating without proper teeth? I am going through it. I never cared much to take care of my teeth since I had a sweet tooth. I could never control myself from eating cakes, enjoying ice creams of different flavors, chocolates was my favorite gift and soda I always loved.
I had been always lazy in brushing my teeth, so usually I skipped brushing my teeth at night. I was fond of chewing tobacco; I believed in a myth that tobacco will avoid any decay in my teeth.
At the age of 49 years I lost my first tooth. It just came out without offering me any pain. Two teeth vanished in next three years. By the time I reached 59 years of my age, I was minus most of my teeth. Now I just cannot eat anything since there are no teeth. I feel sorry for my carelessness.
I have an option of going for a new denture but I am told by experienced friends that it will be much of cosmetic use since I will not be able to chew anything except biscuits dipped in tea or milk.
Suggestions for persons with 32 teeth in mouth:
- Avoid consuming large amounts of soda. Soda contains acid which dissolves tooth enamel and weakens the teeth.
- Brush your teeth two times a day, morning and evening-before going to bed.
- Minimize consumption of fruit juice and soda.
- Black tea or green tea reduces plaque build up and keeps a check on bacteria level in the mouth.
- The toothbrush must be boiled in salt water for 1 minute. It will disinfect it from bacteria. The brush must be replaced every month.
- Rub your teeth with your finger – 25 times, in the morning and evening. It improves blood circulation in the gums. It keeps the teeth -- strong.
