Can you do anything you set your mind to?

When I was a young boy my father got me a poster that said "If you think you can you will". I used to study that poster everyday and actually started to form a believe system at a very young age that I could do anything that I wanted to. After high school, I announced to all my friends, family members, and even the entire town where I lived at the time, that I was going to Hollywood to pursue a dream of becoming a professional actor. And believe it or not, I did it. I didn't make it as far as I would have liked, but I did get a few small roles in movies and TV, and ended up as a featured celebrity in a magazine called Teen Throbs. After a few years at it, I got bored and took up music.

My next goal was to become a singer and make a record. Let me tell you that my voice was not that good, but I really believed I could become a singer. So I teamed up with one of my music idols and made a record. And shortly thereafter got on the radio and was playing gigs all over the WestCoast. Not bad for a guy who had only been singing for just barely a year. A year ago I had a crazy idea to move to Australia, which was always a dream of mine and my wife's and guess what, we did it. I remember the exact moment when we talked about it, and now we are here, although my wife misses the USA immensely - we did it. I remember reading a book recently called "The 4 Hour Work Week" and the author Tim Ferris explained how he had become a national kickboxing champion in only 6 weeks. One of my idols Wayne Dyer, claims you can become an expert in almost anything overnight. He declared himself an expert in a professional field after only spending a weekend at the library. If you haven't already seen the movie Invincible with Mark Wahlberg, I highly recommend it, as you will see a true story about a bartender named Vince Papale who at the age of 31 makes it to The Philadelphia Eagles as a walk on. We are currently seeing history in the making as Barack Obama makes his quest for the White House, talk about a success story. I guess the moral of this current blog is, "If you think you can, you will", and be careful what you wish for as you just might get it.

Make it a Great Day!

I like this hub though I don't believe the theory of 'becoming an expert in almost anything overnight'. Can you become a mathematician or a physician overnight?
