The Dr siegel cookie diet has only been available to the general public nationwide as well as to Canada and Latin America over the past 2 years. Over 200 doctors have been using the Dr Siegel cookie diet on their patients. This diet works for the obese and for people that just have a few pounds to lose.

If you are wondering if you can lose weight with the cookie diet, the answer is; yes. Sanford Siegel created the diet cookie recipe in 1975 and it has only been available to patients within his private clinic until recently. Dr. Siegel is a thyroid specialist and the author of his 2001 book “Is Your Thyroid Making You Fat?” In his book, Dr. Siegel recommends that you do a thyroid diet test for 21 days. During the 21 days you are to follow an 800 calorie diet each day. If you were to lose very little or no weight while following the calorie restriction, it would indicate a problem with your thyroid.

The cookie diet was originally designed for his problematic thyroid patients and granted many of his patients that were on the cookie diet had much success because of the thyroid medications they were on at the same time. But all in all, the cookie diet is designed to be a low calorie diet (about 800-1,000 calories daily) and also a low carb diet. It almost seems funny to think that “cookies” and “low carb” could actually be in the same sentence together but Dr. Siegel’s diet cookie has about 11 carbs per cookie, 1.5 g fat, 90 calories, 2 g fiber, 5 g protein and only 2 g of sugar.

On the Dr. Siegel cookie diet, you eat 6 cookies per day and eat a normal 300-400 calorie dinner (a lean protein and a vegetable are recommended).

Does this diet work? Yes! Can you lose weight with it? Yes! Customers lose an average of 10 pounds per month following the cookie diet.

Dr. Siegel doesn’t recommend using this diet for a long period of time so it is definitely important to speak with your own doctor beforehand. Some experts argue that the calorie count is too low and some physicians are concerned about the lack of vitamins, minerals and fiber.

If you choose to try the cookie diet, Dr. Siegel sells the cookies in a variety of flavors but even Dr. Siegel says they do not taste very good. He also sells supplements that he recommends while on the diet to get adequate vitamins and minerals. If you are concerned about boredom, Dr. Siegel now offers 5 different flavored diet shakes that can be used instead of the cookies.
