“Can Rudy Win Without God?”

Recently I have been looking forward to the nomination of a person like Rudy Giuliani. Some of you might gasp in horror at such a statement why should I a freedom loving American have any desire to see a died in the wool Authoritarian and police state sponsor such as good old Rudy come any where near the Presidency. Well my desire comes not from some deep centered hatred of my precious liberty but just the opposite. I love liberty and am afraid when any one desires to take it away, but a nomination of some one like Giuliani might be a god send (pun intended) for some.

You see there is a great threat in our country that simmers beneath the surface. It is pointed out time and again but most seem to ignore it. The threat to our liberty comes from those supposedly good-hearted people who call themselves Christians. These people are the ones who if given the chance would create a theocratic government, which would rival the Taliban in cruelty and misery for the general population. The Christian Theocratic movement is one of the biggest threats to our overall liberty, they support and prop up The Neo Con movement and provide the backbone of its army of faithful.

Indeed these people form the backbone of support for the current problems we have, mainly because the Republican Party has been able to swing them to their line of thinking. Giving them lip service and telling them they are right on the key issues that supposedly are ruining our country; gays, and abortions, and Darwinist science, oh my. In the past this worked well allowing them the election of people who at least on the surface support their values. But Giuliani is publicly pro abortion, he can’t pay enough lip service to the Christian Theocrats without looking like more of a flip-flopper then both Kerry and McCain combined.

This brightens my holiday season because without this part of the conservative coalition the Republican Party can’t possibly continue on in its current incarnation. Rudy Certainly would have a hard time winning a general election without them, and they are far to “value” driven to come sulking back to him. If the party does choose to cow tow to the Christian Theocrats then some one even less popular might be nominated. Either way this election does not bode well for either groups overall success. While that doesn’t guarantee a win for us lovers of liberty, it certainly helps. So lets hear three cheers for Don Rudy, or the Sandal McCain, or Dumb Fred, any body who will splinter the coalition enough to force the Christian Theocrats out of their hidden position and into supporting a separate third party candidate.
