Can You Tube Make You Famous?

I admit I am pouting after a man was featured on Oprah for his youtube video on Free Hugs. Because way back in high school I used to give out coupons good for one free hug. And it certainly never made me famous. Now, quirky people can achieve pop status fame. Juan Mann has a number of Free Hug videos on YOUTUBE. http://youtube.com/watch?v=9AdQo1qBy1E

And by the way, if a woman held up a Free Hug sign in a busy area, would she be more felt up than hugged in innocence? Somehow I think it would be easier for a guy to hold the sign.
Another internet celebrity goes by the name of TOXIC. I first saw her featured on the Tyra show. Her My Space account had so many hits, that copycats literally made dozens of sites mimicing her. I'm sorry I don't have that link. I don't have time to weed through all the fakes to find it. Besides, she's famous enough for doing nothing but looking hot already.

I want to write something down before I forget it. Today on Tyra she featured people that have become famous on Youtube.com. There was a guy on there who made a mean kitten video about his cat named Sparta. She said he was making $20,000 a month. I about fell off my chair. He said he was a professional youtuber. I have a handful of videos up on youtube.com, and I have a few subscribers, but nothing like that. I'm not even sure how youtube earns people money. I guess sponsors have picked them up because of their frequent hits. Right now my video camera is crap. It's supposed to hold 30 minutes of video, but only holds 5 minutes. It was an early version of the Flip camera. I guess that is the popular choice, but considering how the first one was so sucky, I haven't wanted to buy that brand again. Maybe they've gotten better. Can anyone recommend their favorite video camera that is reasonably priced and works with youtube? I want to Vlog more. You can see why. Who wouldn't want to earn $20k a month? Honestly.

Wow, that's a great idea about filming poetry readings or stories, etc. I have a webcam but it only works indoors and isn't portable. I didn't know they had webcams that weren't portable.

they don't, mine is like yours. ya, it really limits you. you can buy like an extender cord and make it longer, but I think outside would be a no-go anywayz as anytime I try to film say, out my window or door, the glare just kills it.
hope you get some use out of my suggestion or that someone who has the proper equipment local to you can help you with your experiment. : )

Moonmaiden, just buy a webcam (I am using LabTech). It's like $30 and you can make videos on it, make a youtube account and then upload it. Apart from paying for the cam, it would cost nothing.
I have an account there and just use it to make vids for my friends so most of my videos are private other than one I just made of a poetry reading for NightFlower.
