In 1996, Apple Computer welcomed Steve Jobs back and launched a new advertising campaign for a reinvigorated line of Macintosh computers. It was the genesis of a return to glory for Apple Computer that has led to the iPod, iPhone, and update after update for a line of spectacularly successful computers.

Like many of Apple's slogans, the words "Think Different" had meaning on many different levels. It was a message to Apple itself as much as it was a message to customers, and to Steve Jobs, it was no doubt simply a continuation of the message his Apple Computer has promoted since the original 1984 Super Bowl commercial.

But it was this commercial, and its meaning, that encouraged Mac users, and those who might be interested in becoming Mac users, that they played a part in advancing more than just a successful computer platform. If not the best, this commercial is certainly one of the best ever broadcast.
