Cancer is in everyone. The only difference is that some of us have the ability to dispose of the cancerous cells and others can not do so. It is many different diseases that all attack the cells. Cells are supposed to divide and produce more cells when the body needs them, unfortunately some cells keep creating even when the body doesn't need them. This causes them to form new tissue known as tumors. This tissue can be either benign - these are not cancerous and can usually be removed form the body. Most of the time it never returns. Then there is malignant - These are cancerous. The cells in these tumors will invade and destroy nearby tissue or organs. Some of these cells can break away and invade other areas of the body. This is known as metastasis. There are many types of cancers. The following is a list of the most known:

  1. Bladder Cancer
  2. Breast Cancer
  3. Rectal and Colon Cancer
  4. Kidney Cancer
  5. Cancer of the Larynx
  6. Leukemia
  7. Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma
  8. Lung Cancer
  9. Melonoma
  10. Ovarian Cancer
  11. Prostate Cancer
  12. Skin Cancer
  13. Stomach Cancer
  14. Cancer of the Uterus

You can look at the definitions and symptoms of these cancers by going to the American Cancer Society's webpage.

There are many ways to prevent getting cancer. There are precautions such as not always standing close to a microwave, not microwaving plastics, drinking in moderation, avoid smoking and drugs and others that are mentioned in the website stated above. Another way is to eat foods that aid in preventing or ridding cancerous cells from the body. Many of these foods can be found on books. One such book is the one in the picture below. I read this one recently since my mother passed away at the young age of 65 form brain cancer. I now read and try to participate in functions that aid in raising funds to find a cure. I believe that on way to speed the process is to group all the cancer research foundations and creating one that will finally find the cure or vaccination against this home wrecking disease. I lost my mother and although I am 38, I still needed her. I miss her and I know that she would have lived much longer had it not been for this disease.

This blog is a memorial dedication to my mother and my many friends lost or fighting this horrible disease.
