Hoxsey; The Quack Who Cured Cancer?
Hoxsey; The Quack Who Cured Cancer?

I'll Just Have a Placebo, please...

Are there alternative cures for cancer that really work? It seems that there are thousands of people who think there are...and now thousands more literally fighting for the right to at least try these alternative therapies and treatments, both for themselves and their children.

What's really standing in these people's way and their right to choose what they feel is best for them and their loved ones?

Modern medicine is corporatized and that is sad.

I learned just recently that both the NIH and CDC are military corporate structures. Eisenhower warned us when leaving office of letting the Military Industrial Complex take over control in this country.

I am not a person prone to just believe conspiracy theories. I do believe that all of us believe what we do about anything based on our own experiences and learning and that those involved in corporatism truly believe all the facts/justifications they have for decisions they make and what they do.

We need to remember though, that over thousands of years, man's understanding of all things has evolved, with new discoveries that challenge old beliefs and then eventually become accepted as the new way to be doing things.

My only concern presently, based on all information I have personally researched, is that we have, as 'man' so often does, ended up going from one extreme to another with medical care. We cannot control nature and it seems that this is now what we have tried so hard to do.

My strongest belief, at this point, is that people should have the freedom to make their own decisions regarding their own health, or that of their children and that they should not be pushed by medical people or courts to accept any forms of treatment they are opposed to receiving.

Cancer treatment has now become a political issue rather than a medical decision...and in some cases, care being dictated by courts of law.

This is outrageous.

When modern medicine began to grow into a huge connected complex, the focus became towards treatments that control nature, rather than work in harmony with natural principles.

Kill it, or cut it out became the normal choices and the focus of continuing research.

Yet, it hasn't worked all that effectively for the masses and the costs have become totally out of control.

So where next?

It's time for individual people to take responsibility for their own health and to become informed of all options before making their health choices.

It's time for people to stop viewing Doctors as 'Gods' and simply doing anything and everything any doctor suggests or flat out tells them is their only option.

Preventative measures are the best 'cures' ever and Doctors have just now, in pretty recent years awakened to this fact and it is becoming integrated with allopathic medicine, even if only as a mention of something while recommending current treatments to rid a person of current symptoms.

Also in recent years we've been encouraged to mention alternatives to our doctors...and although the answers we're given to our questions seem very sincere, the truth is very few doctors even know anything about the alternatives they tell us cannot work.

One bright note I can report is that the allopathic medical community is now seeming, overall, at least in my local area, to be willing to at least hear me out, give more consideration to alternatives, and to allow me to make my own decisions, even if not in line with their recommendations.

I ran across a documentary film done a while back now, on the Hoxsey Clinic in Mexico that details the history of the clinic, yet also goes into the history of the growth of today's medical corporate structure complex. I found it to be full of information valuable to anyone interested in their own and their loved one's health. It's an unbiased look at things, reporting only facts.

I've also been researching about the placebo and nocebo effects and their actual proven results within the medical and scientic research fields.

So although this film focuses on Harry Hoxsey and his clinic, I feel it's greatest value may be in revealing the struggles all alternative cancer therapies and the Doctor's behind them have had with gaining any level of acceptance by the allopathic medical community, the news media, and why.

At this point in time, I'll just have the placebo, if that's all available to me.

Am I serious?

Yes...very.

However, it won't be the only thing available as there is a movement in this country, at least, at the current time to start working WITH nature...rather than trying to just control nature.

It's very exciting and very easy for any person to research on their own, in today's 'information age', also easy to connect with others worldwide and keep up with latest discoveries, gather testimonials of actual results achieved by thousands of people who have chosen only non-invasive testing methods, and non-toxic forms of treatments for all kinds of illnesses, including cancers.

Here, I present the Hoxsey Documentary, in full and although the film quality is not the sharpest, the sound is perfect....only for the exploration of inquiring minds that are open to considering objectively all health information.

We and our doctors only believe what we do today due to what's gone into our minds for our consideration up til today. And we all have firm beliefs.

I also include links to other sources of information and facts regarding alternatives to taking advantage of only modern medical cancer treatments. I am in no way recommending one treatment over another for anyone. My focus is to simply share all information I can with other people so that they can make the choices they are most comfortable with making for themselves and their loved ones.

And I am happy to see, that since more and more people are standing up for the right to healthcare choices and newer Doctors are more willing to at least consider doing some research into alternatives themselves, plus some researchers focusing on only natural cures....that we are entering a new age of integrative medicine that is taking the best of natural cures and modern science and using them in combination for much better results for people.

However, we still have a long path ahead before integrative medical practices become the norm for all.

I learned a lot from the film and the other sources of information I've included here and will continue to objectively review all information I find or run across in the future.

All sources are simply information for me to take what I feel is of value to me, and leave the rest.

And I include these sources here so that you may do the same,

DJ

"This documentary concerns Harry M. Hoxsey, the former coal miner whose family's herbal recipe has brought about claims of a cancer cure.

Starting in 1924 with his first clinic, he expanded to 17 states by the mid 1950s, along the way constantly battling organized medicine that labeled him a charlatan.

Hoxsey's supporters point out he was the victim of arrests, or "quackdowns" spearheaded by the proponents of established medical practices. Interviews of patients satisfied with the results of the controversial treatment are balanced with physicians from the FDA and the AMA.

A clinic in Tijuana, Mexico claims an 80% success rate, while opponents are naturally skeptical. What is apparent is that cancer continues to be one of humankind's more dreaded diseases, and that political and economic forces dominate research and development."

Hoxsey - How Healing Becomes A Crime

Mildred Nelson, Cancer Therapy Pioneer Obituary

Obituaries

Mildred Nelson, Cancer Therapy Pioneer

Mildred Nelson, R.N., founder and director of the Bio-Medical Center-Hoxsey Clinic in Tijuana, Mexico, died in California on Jan. 28, 1999. Nelson was 79.

In 1946 Nelson joined the original Hoxsey Cancer Clinic in Dallas, eventually founding and operating her Tijuana clinic in 1963. The Bio-Medical Center became the first alternative medical treatment facility catering to American citizens outside of the United States.

"This was a woman who persevered against huge odds to consistently work for the benefit of her patients," said Kathleen Head, N.D.

"Her healing energy and her bedside manner were probably as important in her patients' healing as anything. Many of her patients came back for 30 years or so to get their supply of tonic."

At the beginning of the century, Harry Hoxsey, trained in veterinarian and agrarian sciences, started the Dallas clinic and 17 satellite clinics nationwide as centers for non-toxic cancer treatment for both animals and humans. The Hoxsey cancer treatment includes the internal and external applications of native American herbs, vitamin and mineral supplementation as well as dietary modifications to combat cancer growth. Despite popular support for the treatment, the U.S. clinics were highly controversial with the conventional medicine community from the 1920s through the 1950s-ultimately resulting in the method being banished from the United States. Hoxsey himself retired and passed the torch to Nelson in the 1960s. Nelson's sister Liz Jonas, an on-site administrator at the Bio-Medical Center, will continue her sister's work.

Very Good hub djSartin. Very informative and enlightening. Much of what you bring out here is what many of us need to be considering, in the way of alternative medicines and/or methods. Keep up the good work.

Thank you.  As I mentioned, my strongest belief is in personal freedoms.  The freedom for every family/person to make their own healthcare choices.

And it just seems that in recent years our personal freedoms are slipping away one by one, so it's time we all stand up for our right to make personal choices.

Yet I also believe that people should make informed choices, so we all need to share all the information we find that can help people during their decision making process.

Glad you feel you received some value from the information here and yes, I will try to keep providing information that may be helpful to others...and always seeking more information from others also...

I'm always sceptical about conspiracy theories, but I do think that self-interest in the medical profession could be preventing people from gaining the benefits of new treatments.

Look at ulcer therapy. Nowadays we all know that ulcers can be cured by a simple course of antibiotics, but the Australian doctor who discovered this was ridiculed for years and no one would fund his work - the ulcer specialists and the ulcer medication companies were just making too much money. It's scandalous that so many people missed out on such a simple treatment for all those years.
