Cancer Treatment Options

Cancer is defined as any malignant growth or tumor caused by abnormal and uncontrolled cell division; it may spread to other parts of the body through the lymphatic system.

Did you know that all of our bodies contain cancer cells? They are kept in check by our own immune system. When this system is unbalanced, it gives the cancer a chance to multiply and spread.

Once the cancer has a chance to multiply and spread it is very hard to control and contain. The lymphatic system spreads the disease throughout the body, where the cancer cells attach themselves to many other regions of the body and creates more havoc.

There is a lot of debate on the causes of cancer.

Some say that heredity has a major role in the chances of getting cancer and other say that it’s outside factors that play the role and even others say that it’s both.

I can tell you as a small boy, losing my Grandmother to cancer was no easy feat for me. I couldn’t understand why they couldn’t just bring her back! At that age I didn’t even know what cancer was and at that time neither did a lot of doctors.

I remember my Grandfather and Grandmother going on these trips to these different clinics trying to help her with her cancer. My Mom would always tell us that when Gramma comes back she’s not gonna have any hair and we’re not going to say anything about it - are we! And we would always say “Of course not Mom!”

Every time we say her it was getting worse and worse and pretty soon she was in bed most of the time! This was very hard to see for a young boy who loved his Gramma! The worse part about it was the pain that she was in! I think they tried to shield us from how much pain she was actually in – but we knew!

Unfortunately, this happens all too often, many lose a family member because of this disease.

This disease does not care how old you are – or young. It doesn’t care where you live, or what race you are! None of these factors affect how cancer attacks the body. If the body is prone to get cancer – you bet – it will!

And many people have lost their battle to this common disease!

The medical community is getting smarter and smarter on what this disease is and how to treat it.

There’s just one problem with their treatment – it’s sometimes worse than the disease itself. Chemo-therapy actually attacks the body and the immune system and creates a lower tolerance for many other factors that may attack the body including the cancer.

But is there another option?

There are many studies going on daily, looking for a cure for this disease. Alternate treatments are being tested as well.
