The 8.0- megapixel design allows for high resolution images. So if you decide to buy the Canon A590IS and bring it to parties or reunions, that I’m willing to bet the people and relatives will be queuing up to have their pictures taken, such is its great resolution. It can capture enough details for a photo-quality 16x22 –inch prints. Great for those pictures intended to be hung on hallways and above mantelpieces and fireplaces.

Canon A590IS' 4x optical zoom allows you to take powerful close-up pictures of a running deer, or an airplane, while you’re comfortably seated on your porch. Or if you are so inclined, you can also use its powerful zoom to do paparazzi and take stolen shots of your neighbors or relatives doing crazy stuff.

The Optical Image Stabilizer keeps all shots steady, meaning no weird blurs when you want to catch your kid’s winning goal in soccer or basketball or whatever. It keeps the shot rock steady even when you’re woozy at your feet. “Life doesn’t stand still for picture-taking”, so I really thank God for this feature because I can just relax and stay confident that I’ve got the shot that I wanted.

Canon A590IS has the 2.5-inch LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) which allows for great viewing, whether it’s for taking a shot, reviewing shots, or showing off your shots to other people. It also has a built-in Night Display for those times when the light is not so great.

For the more technical aspects of this camera, it boasts an impressive set of shooting modes: Auto, Easy, Camera M, Portrait, Landscape, Special Scene (Foliage, Snow, Beach, Sunset, Fireworks, Night Scene, Aquarium), Indoor, Kids & Pets, Night Snapshot. Canon’s new Easy mode is for beginners in photography, helping them to take beautiful pictures easily.

Not only that, it also makes use of DIGIC III, which helps the camera operate at highest efficiency, take superior quality pictures, and enhance battery life. It also enables Canon’s Face Detection Technology and Red-eye correction. Now I’m very excited with these two features. The Face Detection Technology helps to automatically recognize faces in a scene, but more than that, it analyzes the white balance for the best possible skin tone! Wow! With this feature, even little kids can take a great picture.

Canon A590IS' red-eye correction, on the other hand, does what it says; it removes the red-eye from flash images. Don’t you just hate it when you thought that you have just taken the perfect picture, then when it gets developed, you discover that it is perfect? Well, except for the fact that everyone has red eyes from the flash, making them look like blood-sucking vampires out for the hunt. Well, worry no more! The Canon A590IS removes the red-eye during the time that the picture is actually being taken, and if the red-eye stubbornly pushes through, you can remove this during playback using the settings in the menu.

Asking me why I love this camera and why I have written this Canon A590IS Review? Well for one thing, its great quality makes life’s precious moments more special. Its charcoal gray color is nice, along with its round edges, its size is also ideal, not too bulky but not too small either, it also isn’t slippery, which is a good thing because you don’t want to drop it.

I highly recommend the Canon A590IS to those of you who are tired of DLSRs and low-grade digicams, and want to upgrade to a functional, yet stylish one.
