I have owned many cameras over my life including film and digital, compact cameras, big bulky cameras, just all kinds. My hands-down favorite has been the Canon G series, and more particularly the G3 and G5.

I was truly excited to find Canon was releasing another G series camera. I liked the G7 and I LOVE the Canon Powershot G9.

This camera is really everything and a bag of chips! Seriously a compact camera that acts like a DSLR. A really fun camera.

From the high resolution screen (huge and beautiful!) to the 6x optical lens and the face detection and compact body, this is truly a great little camera.

I like to buy from a trusted retailer, one who will readily take returns in case I am not happy.

Please be very careful about who you buy a digital camera from. I've done quite a bit of research on camera prices, and there are a number of "shady" online companies. I am not going to name any names here but if you see a price and it's really low, almost looks too good to be true, then it most likely is.

What will happen in most cases is you will place your order and then you will find the item is out of stock, and the company will try to "upsell" you or sell you much more than you planned on buying. This is real common. If you do happen to get your camera you may find it was an open box or one that was refurbished.

That's why I like to stick to a trusted and well-known seller, and shop around to get the lowest price.
