On Wednesday, MTV Games offers for sale the Fab Four in their very first video game: The Beatles: Rock Band.

The Beatles: Rock band is kind of like Guitar Hero on steroids. I don't know how they managed to score this brilliant coup, since The Beatles' music archives have been closely protected for years. But who cares - You will now be able to immerse yourself into the Beatles' virtual world and play and sing right along with them.

That is if you have one of these gaming systems - X-Box 360, Nintendo Wii or Sony Playstation 3.

Of course, you will need instruments connected to your gaming system, and available ones include guitars and a drum pad (although you won't need all of these to get started):

The Beatles: Rock band is kind of like is Karaoke and Guitar Hero got married and had a brilliant, genius kid.

I am definitely going to get this game for my Nintendo Wii because 1) I am an ardent Beatles fan and 2) That's the gaming system I happen to have.

I always wanted to give Guitar Hero a try but felt it was sort of for little kids, and feared I would lose interest right away. Not so with the Fab Four - I absolutely love their music, and playing along with them will put a tiny thrill into my otherwise drab little life :)

The Beatles: Rock band takes you through their songs over the years, and the Beatles' outfits change also, depending on what song era you are playing in.

For example, when they sing "A Hard Day's Night", they are dressed in the classic suits with skinny black ties from their Shea Stadium days. Then when they sing Yellow Submarine, they sport the cool outfits they wore from their Sgt. Pepper years.

I suspect that if you want this game for Christmas gifts, you should probably buy it now, or at least order it, because once their 13-CD mono box set comes out (also on Wednesday, with every single Beatles song ever recorded), these will probably be hard to find.

So make time in your busy scehdule to get your pre-orders in, or for camping out at your neigborhood Wal-Mart on Wednesday and snap up this game, because there's only eight days in a week.
