Capital One UK Big Mistake

Capital One's Advertising campaign always ends with the question "What's in your wallet?" and of course in reality they want their credit card to be in there and are not really interested in what else your wallet might contain.

They don't seem to give a damn about their customers either.

You see I once had a Capital one card and I never ever used it, I have three kids and I got the card for emergency use only, it was to be my Just in-case card, just in-case the car broke down and we needed a tow, just in-case there was some unforeseen emergency and I had no cash with me.

As I said earlier I never ever used the card, but about 6 months after I got the card, I received a bill from capital one for £600.00, I got on the phone to them straight away, just to be passed around from person to person like the parcel in the party game, finally someone told me that, they would check their records and call me back, I am still waiting for that call back even after 5 years.

I cut the card up right there and then.

I have called them up countless times about my card and no one has ever been able to help me with my account.

It has been over five years now and I still get a demand for payment at least once a month and with every letter I get the cost goes a little higher, it is now standing at over £2000.00 and I would rather go to prison than give them a single penny of course I can't get credit because I am on a blacklist but I can live with that.

I have had lawyers letters, threats from sheriff officers and I have been told that my belongings will be seized from my home for a credit card I never used.

But since they have ignored me all of these years, I have ignored them too and so far so good no action has been taken against me yet (touch wood).

I often wonder if it will ever stop.

The next time you see the Capital one AD on TV, think twice before you apply.

" What's in your Wallet?"

My Visa debit card where there are no charges unless I spend more than I have in my account.

Hi Jimmy, Do you have a lawyer friend? Why not get them to word up a demand letter to counter their claim - say demand 100,000 pounds to aleviate your pain and suffering with all the stress associated with their harrasment of you for money you do not owe? I understand your stance - but if you keep ignoring them and the debt grows to a ridiculous amount, you may be bankrupted or they could forclose on your house! Here in OZ we have a Banking Ombudsmen who is there to handle problems like yours. Do you have one in UK? Hope you have success. I love your hubs, regards, Sherry.

I agree with Sherry and MrMarmalade - It's time to take a stand man!!

You have to counter claim. You must do something.

Can't understand how it's gone on for so long. Mistakes can be made but they can usually be put right.

Remember Culloden (or the Alamo or David and Goliath)

I think I'm losing it now.

Jimmy, I will come out of retirement from the law to represent you in this matter. Just send me an e-mail and I will get right on it. This crap has to stop.
