Nowadays, most people are trying their best to save as much money as possible while getting the most value.  As you can imagine, this trend also extends to car insurance.  Unfortunately, automobile insurance is one of those things that no one really wants to pay for unless they need it.  As such, this hub is going to describe a few car insurance discounts in an attempt to help you keep some of your hard earned cash in your pocket.

Safe Driver Car Insurance Discount

If you ever watch television in the United States, you will notice that State Farm is always showing the commercial that states that you can save hundreds and hundreds of dollars if you have a clean driving record. Since the whole automobile insurance business is predicated on a risk/benefit business model, if you can prove that you are a safe driver, you are more likely to receive a safe driver discount.

Safety Features Car Discount

Another discount that is often overlooked by most people is a car insurance discount for the safety features of your automobile.  This discount is simply too easy to overlook.  Let’s discuss a few examples.

First, if your car has anti-lock brakes or an automatic restraint system, these usually qualify for automobile insurance discounts.  If your car is equipped with automatic day time running lights or electronic traction control, you may eligible for a car insurance discount.  Generally, automobile features that enhance the safety of your car are good candidates for a car insurance discount.

Security Features Car Discount

Additionally, many insurance companies will give car insurance discounts for items that reduce the chances of your car being stolen.  The most obvious features in this category are a car alarm, GPS tracking, or Vehicle Identification Number etching on all of your car’s windows.  If you do have a car that is listed as frequently stolen, adding these security features can help lower your monthly premiums.

Conclusion

As this hub has shown, there are numerous car insurance discounts available to most people if they only do a little research to find them.  While it may take some time finding them, it is most definitely worth it.  As a general rule, if you think something might qualify for a discount (i.e. a driver’s education course or an automobile safety feature), you should ask your insurance agent if it qualifies for a discount.  If he or she says it doesn’t, it is always wise to check around with other insurance companies to see if they will offer a discount for that feature.
