Car Wreck Settlement
71If you have been involved in an auto accident where you were not at fault and you were injured, you may be be eligible for a car wreck settlement. Generally means that you sue the person that hit you with their car along with their insurance company in order to try to get as much money as possible. Often this money is meant to cover your medical bills but it can also be to compensate you for pain and suffering which is open to ambiguous interpretation. The best time to pursue this type settlement is when you having large medical bills that are not able to be paid by what you have already received from the person's insurance policy. There are a whole category of lawyers who specialize in this type of case and while it may not be a glamorous work since it has some parallels with ambulance chasing, the money can be good. It probably won't cost you anything to talk with an attorney to see if they may be interested in representing you. Don't worry if you don't think you have the money to pay for an attorney: For a greater percentage of the winnings, they may offer to represent you for free in a way that if they lose the case, you don't owe them anything in legal bills. It's not polite to talk about it this way, but many people have gotten rich from accidents that they have been injured in.
How to avoid being on the wrong end of a car wreck settlement
With virtually everyone having a good lawyer it seems these days, it's important to not be on the receiving end of a car accident lawsuit. The first think you can do is always make sure that you have a good insurance policy and that you are not picking the absolute minimum coverage. With a small amount of coverage, if you are in an accident that is your fault, you may be personally liable for a large amount of money. If you are very wealthy and want to make sure that you are not exposing yourself to a large amount of liability and potential for financial disaster by driving, an umbrella personal insurance policy should cover any expenses or lawsuits above and beyond what is covered by your normal car insurance. These policies are of course expensive to get, but they may be worth it if you are worried about losing a great deal of money to a frivolous lawsuit in the very possible situation that you accidentally injure someone in a car accident.
