Caramelized French Onion Soup

Ready in 50 min.

1 medium onion, sliced

1 tbls. butter

1 to 2 teas. sugar

1 teas. Worcestershire sauce

1 1/3 cup beef broth (low sodium)

1 tbls. white wine or water

Coarsley ground pepper to taste

2 slices French bread ( 1 inch thick)

1/3 cup shredded Swiss cheese

3 tbls. grated Parmesan cheese

Directions: Yields 2 servings..... @ ...272 calories

In a saucepan. saute onion in butter until tender. sprinkle with sugar and Worcestershire sauce; cook and stir for 13-15 minutes or until onions are caramelized.

Add the broth, wine or water and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes.

Place bread on a ungreased baking sheet. Broil 4 in. from the heat until toasted. Turn, sprinkle with the cheeses. Broil until cheese is melted and bubbly. (you could use a toaster oven also) Ladle soup into bowls; top with toast and serve....Yummm
