Today I'd like to discuss the type of carbohydrates you should eat and at what times of the day you should eat them to get maximum weight loss in the minimum amount of time.

Carbohydrates fall into three types

1. Simple Carbohydrates: fruit and dairy

2. Starchy Carbohydrates: potatoes, brown rice, beans, oatmeal, lentils, yams, sweet potatoes, etc.

3. Fibrous Carbohydrates: most vegetables, such as spinach, broccoli, peppers, asparagus, cauliflower etc.

As a general rule, choose natural, starchy carbohydrates with protein should be consumed earlier in the day. Making choices such as oatmeal with some fruit with a small protein shake or a baked chicken with a yam or sweet potato, or beans and brown rice with cottage cheese or a lean steak paired with a baked potato.

Later in the day, switch to fibrous carbohydrates (veggies) and protein, such as steamed veggies and a portion of grilled fish or a salad with hardboiled eggs. Stir-fried chicken and mixed vegetables, Steak and shrimp and veggie kebabs.

To sum things up, on a five meal a day schedule, you'd want to try to have a natural starchy carbohydrates and protein source for your first two meals. Vegetables and a starchy carbohydrates and protein at meal three, and just vegetables and protein for meals four and five.
