Carbon Offsetting

Carbon Offsetting is nothing more than a financial scam to take money from those who believe the hoax of anthropogenic global warming / climate change.

Carbon offsetting is only a paper entry to "legitimize" taking money from people who produce. Let's take an example: Company X is going to exhaust two googles of carbon waste. Company Y isn't going to exhaust any carbon waste in the coming year. Official Z says that you are only allowed to exhaust one google of carbon waste and they are going to charge 100 bucks for every google over your one google allowance. But, 'just to be nice to you', Z allows his sister ZZ to sell you an offset so that you don't have to pay the 100 bucks. Of course, ZZ is going to charge you 50 bucks for this favor. Then, ZZ gives 10 bucks to Y (who wasn't going to exhaust any carbon and considers the 10 bucks a boon) and gives 25 bucks to Z and ZZ keeps 15 bucks for herself.

The result is that X has to pay 50 bucks for staying in business, Y gets 10 bucks in unearned income, Z gets 25 bucks for promoting the hoax and ZZ gets 15 bucks for brokering the offset. The environment? It still get 2 googles of carbon waste dumped on it, NOT A DECREASE! But, X; Y;Z and ZZ all feel good that they are saving the environment because of the offset program.

The scam? X paid 50 bucks to Y, Z and ZZ for nothing, happy to have saved 50 bucks in taxes that it would have paid (the original 100 buck google charge less the 50 buck offset) had it not been for the offset program. AND there was no improvement in the environment.

Now, substitute The US economy for X, the third world and the "poor" for Y; The Fed Gov and the UN for Z; and Al Gore and his carbon credit company for ZZ.

The hoax? Anthropogenic global warming.

I agree wholeheartedly. I hope to write something this good sometime soon. I just wish your (our) words did not fall on so many deaf ears. The one's who put down spiritual 'religion' (and the number of Hubbers doing that is VERY large), have become worshippers of Algore and his ilk and actually believe that we humans are to blame for the 'end of the world' that will soon be upon us. They ridicule others who have faith in a 'higher power', but bow to the alter of the U.N. whose 'experts' (wink, wink) have 'preached' that we have sinned against the planet and our only salvation is to pay homage and $ to them....the omniponent, wise, 'rulers' of the planet!!!

Yes, unfortunately the 'liberal left' has adopted a position of 'environmental Stalinism.' They take a set of data, such as the ice-core data, extract a portion of the data to use for campaign rhetoric; but refuse to even consider the larger part of the data that absolutely proves them wrong. They then castigate those who say we must look at long term trends, rather than the momentary fluctuations that they tout.

Yet, when Nature laughs in their faces by supplying a decade of cooling, these global warming / climate change Chicken Littles try to defend their lunacy by saying we must look at a longer term to support their fallacy.

It seems that the left has paused maturation at the level of 15-year-olds. They display a wonderful passion for their position, absolutely convinced that those who disagree are just plain stupid. Unfortunately, they are much more the flat-earthers than those they decry. The Dark Ages separated the Flat Earthers from the knowledge of past generations, e.g., Mamonidies, the eleventh century physician-philosopher wrote of the earth circling the sun, however fifteenth century Flat Earthers were truly ignorant of that history. Today's flat earthers are separated from the greater body of information because of a self imposed ignorance, not because the information has been lost to them.

The environmental extreme has adopted the position of their pied piper, not for the music he plays (accumulating money for Algore), rather for the secondary agenda of societal economic change and forced redistribution of wealth. The extreme refuses to consider any position that challenges their agenda. The extreme are supported by others who want to garner the approval of the 'cool group', again mimicking teenaged dynamics. And, just as every 15 year-old's parent is, 'just plain stupid', all who disagree with the cool group are stupid and to be derided.

There is much that the left has to offer in terms of passion and compassion that can enhance our society. Just as a puppy with its tail wagging demonstrates a greater happiness and vitality, the left enhances society by presenting radical ideas. Nevertheless, we all know the perils of the tail wagging the dog.
