Caring For Your New Puppy
45Puppies Are Fun
Getting a new puppy is very fun and very rewarding at the same time. Getting a free puppy is harder than it used to be. If you look around, you can still find people that are willing to give them away. There are a few things to remember to help get started. First you abviously need to pick the right dog. After that, you will best know what their needs will be. If it is a small breed like a Yorkie, you know that they will need small toys, etc.. Lets start with the supplies. First, you will want to look at some decent dog beds. Find one that will last for a while and that has (preferably) a removable, and washable cover. Puppies need a lot of quality rest, so make sure to invest in something nice. Next, is looking at dog collars and leashes. You can go extra fancy, or plain. There are many choices out there. In order to avoid your new cuddly canine from chewing up your nice stuff, you will need to provide some quality toys. A good tip to remember is bored dogs tend to get into more trouble. The more you can keep them occupied, the better it will be.
Keep Them Healthy
Make sure you get them high protein food that is not loaded with carbs. Dogs are carnivores after all. A few veggies doesn't hurt, but certain people foods are harmful to dogs. Just remember to do your research. Make sure to spend time training your dog. The first step is establishing where they can go potty. My approach is spending a lot of time with them early and watdhing for the temptation to squat. If you catch them quickly, you can redirect them outdoors whether by taking them out with a leash, or by letting them into the back yard. I bypass the newspaper-on-the-floor thing entirely. Your puppy will grow into a well behaved and fun dog if you take time early on with them.
