10/1 Update: Panthers fans have to be very happy right now as they weathered Steve Smith's absence during a tough part of the schedule (ironically they were 2-0 without #89) and now sit tied (with the Bucs) on top of their division with a pretty decent schedule the rest of the year. The Panthers definitely have the inside track for the division as rookie Jonathon Stewart has looked very goodat 4.4 yards per carry and 4 touchdowns. As long as Smith stops knocking out anymore teammates and they avoid the injury bug the Panthers will have no excuses if they don't reach the playoffs.

Key Additions: RB Jonathon Stewart, OT Jeff Otah, WR Muhsin Muhammed, WR DJ Hackett, LB Landon Johnson, G Milford Brown, LB Dan Connor

Key Losses: QB David Carr, WR Keary Colbert, RB DeShaun Foster, DT Kris Jenkins, LB Dan Morgan

2008 NFL Draft Picks:

1. RB Jonathon Stewart Oregon

2. OT Jeff Otah Pittsburgh (via trade with Eagles)

3. FS Charles Godfrey Iowa

4. LB Dan Connor Penn. State

5. TE Gary Barnidge Louisville

6. DT Nick Hayden Wisconsin

7. LB Hilee Taylor North Carolina

8. G Geoff Schwartz Oregon

9. G Mackenzy Bernadeau Bentley

Carolina Panther News: The Panthers have reunited Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammed as well as added DJ Hackett so there should be a little less burden on Steve Smith's shoulders this year.

Jonathon Stewart was a very interesting pick in the first round. I think he's a good runner but might have been taken a little too high due to his turf toe injury. Not a wasted pick though, he should be a good back in the NFL once he's healed up. Otah with their second pick in the first round (via trade) was an excellent pick. I also like linebacker Dan Connor who some had projected going middle of the first round. This has definitely been a good draft for the Panthers.
