Cartoon Characters that have defined my childhood years.
73Mickey mouse
My early years 5 to about 12
My First memories of cartoons were from about five years old.
The very first character I can recall was Mickey mouse. His wife Minnie with her Polka dot bows. They were a strange family with Goofy and Horace
Donald duck
My next memories were of Donald Duck. His appendage Daggy and his nephews Huey, dewey and llouis. I adored Scrooge Mcduck and his vaults of money
Wile E Coyote
My next memories of cartoon characters were the Wile E Coyote series where he was always pitted against the road runner and never succeeded
Nancy and Sluggo
Nancy and Sluggo (I was about 10 years old at this time)
My later years were defined by Nancy and Sluggo cartoons
Little Lulu
Litlle Lulu featured in my life at this time too (I was about 10 at the time).
I also enjoyed Little Lulu at this time more particular as she ahd a weight challenged friend Tubby. I too had a friend who was a bit tubby so I could really relate to this carton.!.
lulu
Archie Veronica and co.
As I grew older I related to Archie, Veronica and Co. More the comics than the cartoons and the Archies became a phenomena of the seveties which applied more to my children than me. However, I could relate to them.
Archie Veronica and Co.
So this really A call back past with a couple of reminiscences
My second Childhood 1980 - Present
As A young adult and older adult bringing up children the Simpsons has had a special poignancy for me. My kids saw me as Homer, My ex as Marge and my eldest son and youngest daughter as Bart and Lisa respectively. This cartoon has had a defining number of years in my life
The Simpsons

Princessa my Pleasure, my intention. I am glad you enjoyed the trip down memory lane. BTW did you see my car hub?
Not yet, wait a minute, I'll have a look. BTW that Mickey's moving day is one of my boy's favourite cartoons, everytime he catches me at the computer he asks to see that on You Tube. Isn't it amazing how Mickey still a favourite character despite all these years? I wonder if modern cartoon characters will survive that well.
sixtyorso, I'm watching and having a blast! Thanks for putting these together.
Pricessa I guess the answer to that is yes. My favourite adult cartoon over the last 20 odd years is the Simpsons.
Frieda I am thrilled to find people are enjoying this hub. Thank you for stopping by and commenting. It is much appreciated!
Princessa I have added the Simpsons at the bottom of this hub, I hope it improves it!
Great job & what good picks. When the Simpsons started as a series (after the Tracey Ullman stint) Bart & I were the same age. I've been hooked ever since, but that little rascal is somehow still ten as I push thirty! :) Nice 'toon hub.
Hi Sixty, I love all the old fashioned cartoon characters you mention. Hadn't thought about Nancy or Little Lulu for years. How about Felix the Cat? Did you like him?
Also love that you inclued a modern-day love. How cool that your family each has a Simpsons character they resemble! I definitely think that continuing to love and appreciate cartoons as adults keeps us young -- as it obviously does in your case! Cheers, MM
Heckle and Jekyle. Remember them?
I actually have a Felix the Cat orginal movie...my parents used to show us after we sat through their home movies...LOL.. I also loved Roadrunner and Little LuLu...Nice reminders...thanks :O) Hugs
I loved Nancy and Sluggo and Little Lulu and yes G-ma Felix the Cat and the mousketeers and Archie... man we were way cool!!!
RooBee thanks for your comments. Yes you are right cartoon characters don't age do they/ I had forgotten about Bart's intial appearances on Tracey Ulman>
MM thanks for your comments. Yes Felix was one of my cartoon favourites as well
hot dorkage Yes those crazy crows. I do remember them. Which one was the one with the cigar?
G-Ma Johnson Glad you enjoyed the memories. Great fun weren't they?
Candie V, I had forgotten about the mouseketeers.I also remember Mighty Mouse.Thank for enjoying this one with me
It's great to hear your picks. I remember really anticipating Johnny Quest, but Daffy Duck and Tom and Jerry were also faves. Thanks for the trip back, Sixty.
Hi Tom glad i could drag out some old memories. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Much appreciated.
This brings back memories. When I was a kid (even a teenage one) I would wake up in the morning and eat coco pebbles while watching cartoons...particularily Walt Disney cartoons. Great memories.
Writer Rider So glad to have been able to bring back pleasant memories of your youth. I am glad you stopped by and commented. Very much appreciated thank you.
Oh wow Sixty this is a great Hub. Don't you think it is true that the cartoon characters today are nothing as good as the older ones. Yet they should be better but they are not. I have read Archie comics and it made me want to be Betty lol.(hugs) xox
I love the Disney ducks - especially Scrooge. I actually liked the comic books a lot more than the cartoons. Don't see them around much anymore.
Blondie I guess you would make a great Veronica but i kinda picture you as a Betty (girl nextdoor - blonde cute type). Except for the Simpson's and maybe South Park I agree the older ones were better.
Aya_Hajime I agree, most of my childhood memories of cartooons are based on the comics too, as we did not have TV in South Africa until about 1971. Comics of that era are worth a fortune if you could lay your hands on them.
Thanks for stopping by and taking the trouble to read and comment, much appreciated.
So much fun! Thanks Sixtyorso! That put some more light in my day!
Earnest I so am glad this hub evoked such a positive response. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. As always, much appreciated. Writing for hubpages is like writing with instant applause!
