Are you familiar with one of the hottest games blizzard has ever made, Warcraft? Warcraft is probably what started and made tower defense games as popular as it is today.

What is a tower defense game?

A tower defense game is a game where you build towers along a path where "creeps" (monsters etc) pass to try and get to your base. You'll have a certain amount of lives and each creep takes away 1-2(depends on game) amount of lives. You need to pick the best combinations of towers and put them at the most efficient spot on the map. The towers could be as simple as arrow towers, which shoot arrows, or something more advanced such as laser or rocket towers, which do high damage. There are various towers in any good tower defense games, and there really isn't a single way of winning them. I'll be adding links to sources of free tower defense games.

A common strategy, if the game allows it, is to position your towers where creeps will pass at least twice. Putting slowing or any towers that disables/causes a negative effect on a creep before your main damage dealers are also a good idea.

Tower defense games are great for casual gaming because they don't take a lot of time, they are fun, especially if you love thinking of good strategies to win a game, and they are free to play. No high system requirements or high internet speed.

I enjoy playing these games during work breaks...and some at home because they do tend to become addictive :)
