How CatGenie Works So You Don't Have To :)

Saving The Environment One Litter Bit At A Time With CatGenie

Most cat litters are based on clay which is mined from the earth like coal, processed and shipped to stores for you to purchase. In fact, the most expensive component of cat litter is the transportation cost that must be figured into the final selling price. Once the litter is used it oftentimes gets dumped into a landfill where it slowly works its way back into the soil.

Did you know that almost 8 billion pounds of kitty litter are used each year? Think about it, cat litter was created in 1947, so that means that there are literally billions of tons of cat litter in our nation's landfills (assuming that many cat owners simply dump the soiled litter in with their regular household trash).

According to the EPA solid pet wastes should be separated from the litter and flushed down a toilet so they can be properly treated just like human waste in our water treatment plants.

Some cat owners do take the time to scoop out the poop and flush it down the toilet but many just dump the litter box contents into the trash and add fresh litter to the box. Maybe they will rinse it out if they think about it.

CatGenie solves the landfill problem by using an ingenious washable granule that is made from recycled plastic and organic materials and is 100% safe for both cats and the planet. This unique granule is completely biodegradable unlike many plastics that will sit in landfills for thousands of years. They will completely biodegrade in two years in a typical landfill and if you have a septic system they will break down within nine months.

Although the granules never need to be changed because they are thoroughly washed with fresh cold water and a veterinarian approved CatGenie sanisolution some will inevitably stick to some waste so you will have to occasionally add some washable granules to the CatGenie.

No need to be concerned about excessive water usage either as CatGenie uses the equivalent of one toilet flush per cat per day during the cleaning cycle.
