Cats are favored as pets for many reasons. The first reason above all is that many individuals love cats. They are also natural pets because they are less maintenance than other pets on our time and space. It is easier to fit a cat into our busy lifestyles than other pets.

Of course, there are responsibilities to owning a cat. Although many think of cats as being very independent, they do require love and attention along with cat training to establish house boundaries. There are rules that need to be established to ensure the health and well being for all family members.

One of the most important aspects of good cat training is for the cat to use the litter box. It is vital to "toilet train your cat" - your pet needs to understand where to relieve itself.

When cat house training is not addressed properly, the house will begin to smell of feces and cat urine that can be very overpowering in odor, as well as being a health hazard to those living in the house. Sadly, many cat owners have been discouraged by this type of problem when a cat will not use the litter box, finally giving up their cats to animal shelters from shear frustration.

Cat's may not make the connection to use the litter box properly, or may urinate in areas of the house to mark their territory. Sometimes cats will relieve themselves in the house to let you know when they are frustrated with you. Whatever the reasons for this, most of these problems can be addressed with proper cat house training methods.

Make sure the litter box is in a secluded area of the house for the cat's privacy and change out the cat litter regularly. If you have been using deodorized kitty litter, try using regular cat litter. This could make the difference. Praise your cat whenever you see him using the litter box. This will help to reinforce the cat's connection to the litter box area.

From a pet supply store, you can purchase odor removers for cat urine and staining from carpet and furniture. Doing this will help to eliminate any established pattern to attract your cat back to misbehaving

Whenever you catch you cat reverting back to older patterns, take it directly to the litter box, then praise your cat for using the box. With patience and reinforcing these actions, you can achieve success at cat house training.

if after working with your pet diligently with these methods and your pet is still urinating and pooping in areas of the house, your cat might need a visit to the vet. There could be an underlying physical problem with your cat's inability to stay consistent with using the litter box.
