Hopefully the following tips and tricks will trigger some ideas of your own.

Let's cover a variety of over a variety of situations that most cat owners encounter.

Positive Reinforcement works

Catching a cat in the actual "crime" is as close to impossible as it gets. Much easier and less stressful would be to keep a couple of treats handy and simply reward your cat when she displays a " desired " behavior. We are not talking about circus tricks here; think more along the line of using the scratching post or the litter box

Keep Plenty of Toys

Boredom is probably the number one reason why cats display so called bad cat behavior. Since cats are predators by nature it 's not kitty's fault that the curtains look appealing as "pouncing" training ground if nothing else is around. Just giver him some alternatives and he'll tame down.- at least a little bit :). If your cat is used to company, he may get bored and inadvertently destruction while you're at work or are gone for any length of time. Here's a quick hint. Buy a timer for your television set, make sure the TV is tuned to an animal-friendly channel (an outdoor channel or Animal Planet for instance) and then have the television automatically turn on at different times of the day. Cats can see images on the screen. He'll come to investigate the noise and stay to watch the picture - at least for a while.

Keep your cat busy when you are away

If your cat is normally used to company some undesired behavior can be triggered if your gone for any lenght of time. It's actually not a bad idea to invest in some kind of timing device for your tv and have it come on during certain times during the day. Cats can see the images on tv and will come and ivenstigate the noise and watch

Learn the value of a spray bottle of water. In some instances, spraying a cat with a harmless water bottle is enough to get their attention and stop the bad behavior. A simple spray bottle that you use for misting plants is really all you need. When the cat misbehaves, you squirt him. Soon, he'll know that he can't do that.

A spray bottle of water might be your best friend

We have four cats -- Spats, the only male, is king of the hill. Our elder matriarch, Wasi, is very territorial and hated it when we brought in the other three. They get along fine with the dog and love attention, but mostly they like to eat! Hmmmm... maybe they take after me?

Thanks for the article!
