Cat Grooming Video

This cat has been groomed only once before this video was taken. I have never groomed this cat before today, she had gone to another groomer for her first grooming.

This cat is NOT sedated. While working with cats you have a small window of opportunity, the haircut needs to be finished as quickly as possible. The cat is not tied to anything she is just laying on the table and allowing the haircut.

In this video I am using a vacuum rigged set of clippers. You may be able to see the vacuum pulling the hair up and away from the cat. I am also using a guard to cover the clipper blade so I won't hurt the cat.

It is very important while grooming a cat that you allow them to "hang on" to something so they feel secure. The skin needs to be stretched while grooming each surface of the cat. The cat's skin is very easley torn, extra caution needs to be used while clipping a cat.

Well that's certainly informative for me, what with the Persian I have to contend with (the little madam in my pic) hating, and I mean hating being groomed. Thanks for sharing :)

Moonbun,

I'm glad you enjoyed the site. I suggest a weekly petting with a dryer sheet. The sheet will stop static under the surface of the fur and help with mats, etc.

Susan
